What is the good advice for tanning if I have fair/pale skin?

I have very fair/pale skin. What is the best sun cream factor for tanning without getting burnt and destroying my holiday from day one? What is the good advice for tanning if I have fair/pale skin?
the best tanning is no tanning. fair skin is back, just look at anne hathway, nicole kidman, Cate Blanchett, kiera knightley, Julianne Moore and Gwyneth Paltrow.

stop hiding behind the bronzer and just embrace your skin colour

look for the highest SPF you can find to protect your skin from the bad sun. and you should apply it atleast once an hour. What is the good advice for tanning if I have fair/pale skin?
It's not so much about the strength of the sunscreen but rather making sure you reapply frequently. I usually see the best results with SPF 15 and reapplying once or twice an hour. If after the first day you haven't gotten any sun, maybe apply less frequently, but check your skin often for any redness or discomfort. As you get more sun, you'll be able to apply it less often. Just be sure to be patient. Sun that is obtained to quickly will either result in a burn and/or peeling.

Also, I'd recommend a good after sun moisturizer, preferably one with coffee beans. It helps to sooth the skin and prevent peeling.
well i would NOT go to a tanning salon.

and considering your rather fair/pale i wouldn't suggest spray tan,

but maybe try a LIGHT tanning cream- one that you put on daily.

also, tanning outside for a long time does make you wrinkly, burn, and sunspots develop.

-if you were to get a spray tan or go to a tanning bed, do it over a break or long weekend that way you could say you went to florida or mexico or something:)
I have fair skin and i went to a tanning salon.

I would say start out at 4 or 5 minutes each day everyday for a week and a half then for the next week go for 7 minutes. and then for the week after than 10 or 11.

then 15 for the next 2 and 20 for the rest .
DON'T TAN! you'll get all wrinkly and gross and get a ton of sun spots when you're older.

be proud of your fair skin!
