I would like to go to college for either art, history, or film. I can see pretty clear paths for the former two, but not for the third.
What preparations should I make? What do I have to know? What is some good advice for an aspiring film student?
If you decide to head into film, find an undergraduate program that can set you up in internships because that's the best way to find jobs after graduation. If you don't have an internship that provides contacts in the industry (and a potential job offer after graduation), then you're pretty much on your own when it comes to finding a job once you finish school. Everyone wants to be a director, but it's easier to get started in the industry in production simply because there are more jobs in production. The entry level jobs require long hours and don't pay much, but they provide valuable contacts and get you started. You'll need good social skills, good organizational skills, flexibility and perseverance to succeed in production. If you think you want to be a director, start taking photography courses because filming is a visual medium and you need to learn to see what the camera sees.

What is the best advice for switching my regular IRA to a Roth IRA?
Considering the current price of stocks, isn' t this the best time(2008)to switch to a Roth IRA so that I can reduce my regular IRA minimum required distribution, in order to pay less income tax in the coming years? I am 73yrs oldWhat is the best advice for switching my regular IRA to a Roth IRA?
Convertng to a ROTH does not mean that you must invest in stocks. That's an independent choice. You could do stocks... or CDs, or Treasury bills, etc. Whether to switch is more related to your tax and financial situation. It coud be a great decision, or a poor decision. It just depends on your situation. What is the best advice for switching my regular IRA to a Roth IRA?
Possibly.
I'd suggest to just keep taking out as much from the traditional IRA as possible until you hit the first tax bracket and then take out of the Roth any more you need.
May be the fed will do something crazy and reduce taxes on traditional ira distributions to help the middle class if recession hits. I mean, Roth's arn't supposed to exist much longer but odds are they will either extend them or make them permanent anyways. Unless your Roth wont last long I'd say wait for more favorable tax laws to make large pulls from the traditional.
Well, I'm 28 so i got 20-30 years. This may be swaying my opinion.
In theory, yes.
But I'd carefully look at your overall finances as moving a huge amount of money will trigger income tax. I would only suggest estimating your taxes several times with different amounts and only move out the 10% or 15% tax bracket's worth.
You must still be filing either single or MFJ, not MFS.
Your income must be less than $100K.
You cannot roll over your minimum required distribution for the year. (The conversion will reduce the amount remaining in the account and will reduce the 2009 mrda).

What is the best advice you ever received on writing good poetry
The best advice that I got is probably:

Be prepared to cross out that word or phrase you really really really like if it doesn't fit. What is the best advice you ever received on writing good poetry
Don't even try it.....I was told.
I WROTE some lines once on a time
In wondrous merry mood,
And thought, as usual, men would say
They were exceeding good.
They were so queer, so very queer,
I laughed as I would die;
Albeit, in the general way,
A sober man am I.
I called my servant, and he came;
How kind it was of him
To mind a slender man like me,
He of the mighty limb.
';These to the printer,'; I exclaimed,
And, in my humorous way,
I added, (as a trifling jest,)
';There'll be the devil to pay.';
He took the paper, and I watched,
And saw him peep within;
At the first line he read, his face
Was all upon the grin.
He read the next; the grin grew broad,
And shot from ear to ear;
He read the third; a chuckling noise
I now began to hear.
The fourth; he broke into a roar;
The fifth; his waistband split;
The sixth; he burst five buttons off,
And tumbled in a fit.
Ten days and nights, with sleepless eye,
I watched that wretched man,
And since, I never dare to write
As funny as I can.
i think i've only been given one piece of advice that applied generically to all my poetry. it was something along the lines of....
';you keep putting in lines just to fill the gaps. stop it!';
i don't think i succeeded in avoiding the advice-giver's ';crime'; of filler lines...
Probably the best advice I ever got was ';Give it up, it'll break your heart worse than a woman';. Of course I was stubborn, and did not give it up, and now you see what is left after years of ridicule and humiliation. What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

From my Creative Writing instructor on punctuation:
';You can use it in poems, you know--not only CAN you, but you SHOULD!';
That poetry is not made of ideas, but of words. That was Mallarm茅 talking to me. I was very young then. Considering he died in 1898.
EDIT: corrected typo... I am such a perfectionist.
A teacher pulled me aside one day and said, ';Don't worry so much about learning how to write a good story. Go out there and learn how to tell a good story.';
The best advice I have ever gotten is to read poetry, lots of it and different styles.
Probably try and explain the experience with words, instead of just using words! Close to the one you received! Cheers!!

What are the benefits of doing debt consolidation instead of bankrupcy? Any advice or sites to visit?
It is true that bankrupcy is going to show on my credit for the rest of my life? They are asking for $600 for a monthly payment and I cant do that amount. What can I do? I dont want to do bankrupcy
Thank you! What are the benefits of doing debt consolidation instead of bankrupcy? Any advice or sites to visit?
Yes it is true. Bankruptcy is bad so don't do it. get a second job and consolidate your bills.

Bankrupcy stays on your credit for 10 years. If you go with a debt management company then your credit can go down but in the long run will start to increase as you make your timely payments. The other thing you can do is a debt settlement. That means that a company will negogiate with your credit cards to pay off half the balance and consider it paid off. you must be aware though that your credit cards are not getting paid until atleast the half is accumulated. I'm in the debt management business and if you need help we give free credit counseling.
With the new bankruptcy law, breaking free from debt has become more difficult. Hence avoid getting caught in the debt. If due to any reason, you are in debt, remedy the situation immediately. Though debt consolidation loans charge lower rates of interest than most other types of loans, there is a big difference in rates charged by various lenders. Hence research the lenders thoroughly before applying. Tell the lender how much you can pay and till when you can pay. They can find out a right plan for you.

Keep looking around and yes, avoid bancruptcy. I did it back in 01 and the lawyer who did it missed a couple of things for one but it still isnt off my record and I have paid very high interest rates for things because of it. I stupidly thought that what or why you filed couldnt be seen, just that you had filed but I was wrong. Glad that time in life is over. Be careful not to let it come to garnishment either as that isnt very favorable with employers.
Hi,
I used ';Credit Solution'; to settle my debt and improve my credit score. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58% .It's legitimate.I came across this company on NBC News Special Edition.Check it out here:

but my brother had a baby 6 months ago aswell. im scared to tell my mam and dad if i am pregnant incase they go mad. :OMight be pregnant but need some advice please?
The best thing you can do hun is take a test, there is no point worrying about what your parents will say if you're not even sure you're pregnant.
Definitely do a pregnancy test, the only way you can move on with your life is by knowing the truth.
I was 19 when I fell pregnant, if you are pregnant you may find your parents are surprisingly supportive.
Hope this helps, and whatever the test results are that you are happy!!Might be pregnant but need some advice please?
wait and see if u miss your period then take a test then think about telling your parents
if you are its your choice what to do good luck
edit . . . i just looked at your questions you have asked this for about 3 weeks now so take a test then u can worry
its too early to tell if ur pregnant yet, wait till u miss yr period. just a question if ur worried about yr parents finding out ur pregnant why have u come off the pill or rather if u have come off the pill why arent u using an alternative reliable contraceptive ?

What is the best advice for high school freshmen?
Lots of things are said to incoming freshman. Now its your turn to pass along words of wisdom. What is the best advice for high school freshmen?
* Find what you love. Ask around about which teachers are best and experiment with classes you might like. Volunteer or get a job in an area that interests you. Don't let your life be defined by the one-size-fits-all requirements; do your own thing.
* Don't worry too much about making friends right away; the people you cling to in the first week may turn out to be less interesting than the people you meet when you've found your niche.
* Be organized. Keep track of all your responsibilities in a planner or calendar -- helps you avoid ';Oh, that was due TODAY????';
* Be IN CHARGE of your own education. Ask for help if you need it; don't wait for parents or teachers to take responsibility. What is the best advice for high school freshmen?
dont slack off becuz it will come back to haunt u in about 2 or 3 years when its time to graduate and u dont have enough credits!!
Just be tough. Don't let them see any fear and show them who's boss. They're just being silly. If you show them your tough they will respect you and usually leave you alone.
Focus on school because all the social politics and separate groups are don't even apply in the ';real world'; so don't worry about being popular or cool. Just do your work and get good grades so you can get into some kick *** college. Trust me that will be WAY more important than anything else.
be smart about your actions
Beware of Seniors!! Ok, in all seriousness. Take notes, pay attention, study and get good grades. Don't be tardy, try not to miss any days, and be helpful to the teachers. These are the years when your grades count toward your GPA. Stay ';Above the Influence'; with peer pressure. Don't be afraid to be yourself and always remember, not everyone is always going to like you but you don't have to make it your problem, it is theirs'. Good luck...
Be as organized as you can. Pay attention to and keep track of due dates. It wouldn't hurt for you to have a planner or electronic organizer. Pay attention in class and take notes. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Most teachers don't mind, especially if you've been paying attention. Don't put off doing homework or studying. Your grade are going to be very important from this point on. Don't stress out about it, but just do your best.
Pay attention
my best advice to you is PICK YOUR FRIENDS WISELY!
one thing that is going to make or break a positive high school experience is your friends. one thing you don't need when enteing an already stressful situation such as a new school is drama created by your friends. i should know, because my freshman year sucked thanks to the friends i chose. also, make sure you have responsible friends. You don't want to have your friends getting mixed up in things like drugs or alcohol or sex or anything like that... because who you hang out with is ultimately a reflection of yourself! You'll be fine just as long as you dont do anything stupid!! don't do anything you wouldn't do in front of your parents, your principal, or your grandparents! make that your motto... have faith in yourself and don't do anything STUPID!
stay free of drugs, alcohol and tabaco products. Stay in school...

Should I get the kind with a grill top, a stone top or a combination of the two? Any other tips or advice about this are very welcome. Can anyone give me advice on what type of raclette is the best?
I find this one the best:

What's a raclette?
I would probably go with a combination of the two, this way you can have it either way! You can be grilling on top, and melting your cheeses on the bottom. Yum!
Have fun and don't forget to invite me for dinner!

you ought to expand it to the length it requires, make sure you are footnoted and referenced to the hilt, and submit it to a scientific journal.
My new theory is that none of us knows for sure what happened and that we should all enjoy ourselves, protect the environment instead of arguing about who created the world, how, what, etc...
I do believe in God and his creation but I don't pretend to know more than ';this is what I believe in';!!!

So whats the best advice you ever received and who told it to you? What is the best advice you ever recieved?
Well, to me it was by one of my Teacher who was a proffessor of English. I was over confident about my studies up to Graduation level. I never confined myself to the text books, i had a habbit to read from every where even mostly at the cost of my course books, which was of course deadly from the examination point of view. I argued with every teacher giving reference of different books and writers. Once this teacher talked to me and said '; ahmad I appreciate whatever you study and work, and also what you have acquired from your studies. Just tell me one thing. Do you think your examiner is also familiar with what you know? He might never have the knowledge of what you know. He only knows the precribed books. Therefore concentrate on your text books at least to improve your result.'; This was only 18 days before the examination. What are the best advice to give to immigrants so they have a successful life in the US?
Hi, I'm an immigrant and I'm trying to put together a book to help other immigrants to create a successful life for theirself in the United States. I want to help people to avoid the mistakes I made when I first moved here. I'm looking for intelligents tips, such as where to get cheap medical cares, good websites, where to get free English classes, which banks are the most friendly toward immigrants, which organizations work to help immigrants to integrate the US in a better way and so on...
Wether you are an immigrant yourself or not, thanks a lot for all your tips in advance! What are the best advice to give to immigrants so they have a successful life in the US?
Read Atlas Shrugged and embrace Individual accomplishment!
Start an Immigrant based Ayn Rand work shop. She was an Immigrant from Russia and saw America in a way that even born-Americans missed! What are the best advice to give to immigrants so they have a successful life in the US?
get an education early in life, don't start a family until after you've graduated college.
and don't have children young. wait until your late 20's and or after you've graduated college.
on and added note.
my hubbys parents migrated here from mexico. they started thier own business and didnt have children until thier late 20's almost 30's. so now they have the financial ability to put thier kids through college. that is the best thing you can do for yourself and your future children. if they can do it then you can do it.
If you are not legal, go home. If you are, learn the english language.
be legal, learn English and stop looking for hand-outs!!!
First of all APPLY at the nearest US Counsulate General office and fill out all the required paperwork.
Do not travel until you have your visas that authorize you to be a long term resident with work priviledges. Have enough money saved up BEFORE you travel to the USA so you will NOT have to drain social service resources - ie ';free'; medical care and subsidized housing, and food subsidies.
Legitimate immigrants do not come to the USA and take benefits from US citizens who have genuine need.
don't listen to the liberals . Work hard and make something of yourself , America is a place of endless opportunity for those who want it . Free medical - get a job . The best way to learn another language is rosetta stone , for about $300 you will learn english . the simple answer - don't depend on anyone else for your success
one tip for illegal for your book:
- always wear ninja suit everywhere u go...so u won't get caught and deported.
Legal immigrants who have a command of the English language and who observe immigration laws, and who make every effort to be self-suporting, rather than exploit social welfare programs, tend to do very well in the United States. Banks and businesses will provide resources and encouragement to those who want to come here and start their own businesses.
English is essential and a marketable skill will make it possible to succeed. (That goes for native born Americans as well as immigrants.)
The best advice you could give an immigrant would be to spend his or her time and effort establishing a business rather than wasting time trying to work the system for handouts. There truly is no such thing as a free lunch. If a person gets tangled up in the web of government and social service programs, they will never break free.
You are going to find different local areas have different deals. I would start with the chamber of commerce in most communities to help you with this. they will know who is focused on immigrants and can help them the best.

Edit2: Friends, you do realize that expressing malice towards legal immigrants only serves the cause of illegal immigration supporters. If people come here legally, they deserve all the advice they can get.
I think you should ask as many immigrants as possible what their experiences are. Find people with different backgrounds from yours: a different color skin, a different educational background, a different religion. They will all have different experiences. I think it is a great idea, and good luck to you!

Yesterday I was eating lunch and there was a TV on and cops was one. There was an immigrant who was being arrested for a DUI.
The cop was fair to him. And when they were booking him at the jail the man turned to the officer and said thank you for treating me with some dignity, I know I did soemthin wrong, but I appreciate you treating me well.
I know this is a situation of him being arrested but the point is he knew he did something wrong, he was polite and cooperative to the cop and the cop treated him with respect and he will probably receive a lighter penalty maybe because of it.
A good attitude will take you farther than anything else.

I only have one tip. If you really want to help them be successful, stress that they need to come here to be an American, not a (Mexican, Vietnamese, whatever) living in America. This country was built by immigrants, but the difference between then and now is that our Forefathers all came here to contribute to the development of this nation, not to just make money to send back home to family members while maintaining loyalty to their native land. Nothing makes me more disturbed than to see people here cheering when Americans are maligned, mistreated and ridiculed by people in their native country. America is a GREAT country, and those who choose to immigrate here must understand that the privilege of coming here carries with it certain responsibilities like paying taxes, obeying laws, and taking pride in AMERICA. I do not mean to suggest that people surrender their heritage when they come here, but they must be prepared to change their loyalty from the old to the new. Good luck with your book.

and don't have children young. wait until your late 20's and or after you've graduated college.
on and added note.
my hubbys parents migrated here from mexico. they started thier own business and didnt have children until thier late 20's almost 30's. so now they have the financial ability to put thier kids through college. that is the best thing you can do for yourself and your future children. if they can do it then you can do it.

Legal immigrants who have a command of the English language and who observe immigration laws, and who make every effort to be self-suporting, rather than exploit social welfare programs, tend to do very well in the United States. Banks and businesses will provide resources and encouragement to those who want to come here and start their own businesses.

What is the best advice on publishing an article?
The article is titled ';Complex Simplicity: The Beginning of Time'; (about 2 pages).
It is a look at the various existing theories/beliefs on GOD and the Universe, creation, time, space...etc. with a unique conclusion and a NEW Theory! What is the best advice on publishing an article?
you should have an editor review your article before publishing. What is the best advice on publishing an article?
two pages and it deals with god, the universe, existing theories and beliefs? and a new theory?
you ought to expand it to the length it requires, make sure you are footnoted and referenced to the hilt, and submit it to a scientific journal.
My new theory is that none of us knows for sure what happened and that we should all enjoy ourselves, protect the environment instead of arguing about who created the world, how, what, etc...
I do believe in God and his creation but I don't pretend to know more than ';this is what I believe in';!!!

What is the best advice you ever recieved?
I took his words very seriously thenonwards and got through the exam successfully. What is the best advice you ever recieved?

What are the best advice to give to immigrants so they have a successful life in the US?
Hi, I'm an immigrant and I'm trying to put together a book to help other immigrants to create a successful life for theirself in the United States. I want to help people to avoid the mistakes I made when I first moved here. I'm looking for intelligents tips, such as where to get cheap medical cares, good websites, where to get free English classes, which banks are the most friendly toward immigrants, which organizations work to help immigrants to integrate the US in a better way and so on...

What is some good advice for getting a job? Ways to rub off well on employer?
What are some ways I can act to seem impressive or suitable for a job. It is only a small local pizza restaraunt. They don't even do interviews or applications. You just go in a talk to them.
What are some ways I can dress, act, or talk to score the job above others. Isn't that the law of attraction or something?
Thanks! What is some good advice for getting a job? Ways to rub off well on employer?
It sounds pretty informal there, so just dress neat and tidy and speak clearly and have good eye contact.

What was the craziest advice or suggestion you got?
What was the wackiest, weirdest or most off-the-wall advice you got while planning your wedding, regardnig your wedding? Crazy ideas? Crazy concepts? Insane reception ideas? Odd food suggestions? Let's hear it!
For me: my mom swears up and down I don't have to get my hair done for the wedding. She thinks I can just wash it, dry it and stick the veil in it. I think she is crazy. My hair is and always has been absolutely insane, curly and huge. Oddly, this is the only thing she has a strong opinion about. Go figure lol...What was the craziest advice or suggestion you got?
A co-worker told me to lie to the priest during our meetings with him. Gee, I'll really have to think about that. Especially considering the source - a woman who wants to get a divorce but says she can't afford it. Instead, she stays married and dates a super-rich guy who is also married to somebody else all the while still sleeping with her husband who has no idea that her ';overnight shifts'; are not actually for work so she can ';keep the peace at home.';
Perhaps getting married wasn't in her best interest. I wonder what would have happened if she'd told the priest the truth...?What was the craziest advice or suggestion you got?
Great question. For me, because I am Catholic and my fiance is Methodist, his mother suggested that we marry in a Lutheran church so that we can ';compromise'; on our religion. I found that a little ridiculous.
My friend suggested that I just buy a white prom dress instead of a wedding dress to save money. Um, hello, people would notice, especially since my wedding is pretty formal.
My mom feels that I don't owe my bridesmaids anything, and suggested I get them all a $10 candle. I told her that they have all spent over $100 on their gowns and accessories, and three of them have to fly to get here and they are hosting my shower, but she still doesn't think gifts for them are a necessity, especially for my two sisters.
It's not so much that it was crazy advice, but that people were actually offended when I wouldn't accept their advice (even online folks). I made my own wedding dress and people thought I was insane. It was fabulous. It wasn't that hard. You wouldn't BELIEVE the negative comments I got from people about making your own wedding dress. Even on Yahoo!Answers when someone asked about making their own, I got many thumbs down when I said ';SURE! You can do it!';. I'm not even a great seamstress and someone bought my dress already (Tudor recreation) for $700.
On the whole though, I got a lot of terrific advice on Yahoo!Answers from do-it-yourself-for-less-money allowing me to stay in budget.
At my wedding, my first maid of honor didn't show up. The flowers weren't the flowers I asked for. My cousin didn't have music ready. Then, there was the part where my husband's cousin covered our car in butter, cheese, and hot dogs. That, of course, led to a shouting match and a near fist fight. Which led to my husband's grandmother refusing to be in any of our wedding pictures...I guess because she thought covering the car with butter was perfectly all right.
I didn't get much advice from my mother, because I had heard her for my sister's previous two weddings. The first one she suggested using potpourri instead of rose petals, so every step my sister took crunched.
I felt bad, but my mom was elected to bring chairs and that was about it.
My husband's uncle pulled aside at the reception and gave us advice on our marriage. Cherish each other everyday, always say I love you, etc.
All pretty good sounding advice but this is coming from a man on his second marriage whose current wife NEVER comes around to family gatherings or spends time with him and I believe he's had numerous affairs. Thanks - I think we'll figure it out on our own!
someone told me that the brides maid is more important than the maid of honor and i read about one bride using live gold fish in bowls as their centerpieces/ favors at the end of the night every one got to take home their fish may i sarcastically say 'yay'
To buy a gown that exceeded my entire budget. I couldn't believe anyone would pay that much for one dress.
Then I saw the show ';Say yes to the dress.';, and saw people buying dresses that cost more than my first car.
That isn' the craziest I've heard...my family was pretty good through it all, but HIS family.. oy.. his aunt was stuck on doing a great big cheesy rose infested bouquet for me.. GAG..
It was hard to convince her that It really wasn't my taste or desire, I think she tried for months
lol my cuzzin when she was getting married we were looking or bridemaids dresses and my stupid aunt decided so that everyone save money that we all go in diffrent dresses and this other girl did not have mmoney so her bridesmaid dress was in white =/
my dad's advice...';Don't take my advice.';
my FMIL suggested not to have flowers during the wedding coz they cost too much haha
I went for a make up trail downtown Toronto; it was someone who my mom suggested. I asked the make up artist (if you can call her that) to make me look natural and fresh with a nice bridal glow! a bit like the natural look of the cover girl ads. Well I don鈥檛 know what she did but she was actually using what looked like a small paint brush and painting on the foundation! She used this vibrant Blue eyeliner, about four different colors of eye shadow. It was horrible. I was scared to even look in the mirror because my head felt five pounds heavier from all the make up. I did look, and I was in shock. My mother suggested that I let her do my make up for the wedding and that it looked natural!!!! There was nothing natural about it; I looked like a show girl! I couldn鈥檛 believe she even suggested that I show up at my wedding looking like I just did Las Vegas show!
This isn't crazy advice, but it's just kind of one of those no-brainer things. When we first started planning the wedding, my FMIL (I love her to death, seriously) would suggest the most obvious things that brides-to-be already know. We were looking for a hotel to get a block of rooms, and she said: (knowing full well we were going around asking for their group rates) ';make sure you tell them you're booking a few rooms because sometimes hotels will discount the price.'; Ok, great idea, thanks! :)
Then there was my friend who thought that I didn't need to be considering anyone's feelings, as long as it made my life easier. We're having a beach wedding and I had to think about getting chairs, etc. She suggested making all of our guests stand, because, ';screw them, they can stand for a few minutes.'; Ok, tell that to my 84 year old future grandma who uses a walker. And ';you don't need to feed them, save your money.';
Other than that, though, I've been pretty lucky with people staying out of it or offering constructive criticism.
My MIL suggested that I should ride the limo with everyone else from the hotel to the venue, get this, two hours before the wedding.
They hired the limo from 3 pm till midnight and wanted me to ';wait'; for the limo and drive with them at 3 pm and only have 1 and 40 minutes to get ready in the bridal suite (ceremony at 5 pm). I politley declined as I needed more time to get ready, but they INSISTED that I should ride the limo and they were not letting go!. I was sooo enfuriated that I used the ';this is my wedding, I do what I want'; card... I mean, come'on ...what bride gets ready in an hour and a half????
Another one, my MOH (bless her heart) hands me a glass full of beer right before the ceremony. Here we are in the limo with my sparkling, brand new wedding gown, and she hands me a hand full of beer on a moving vehicle????? I handed out to someone else without making a fuss. I know that she meant well, but I did not want a spill on my dress 30 seconds before the ceremony!!!!
Good luck
My fiance tried to tell me we didn't need any flowers! lol! Of course I made sure that we will have an abundant amount of flowers!
A co-worker told me to lie to the priest during our meetings with him. Gee, I'll really have to think about that. Especially considering the source - a woman who wants to get a divorce but says she can't afford it. Instead, she stays married and dates a super-rich guy who is also married to somebody else all the while still sleeping with her husband who has no idea that her ';overnight shifts'; are not actually for work so she can ';keep the peace at home.';

What is the best advice you have for College Life?
I'm attending The College of William %26amp; Mary in the fall, academically tough, but what advice do you give to survive academics and college life, such as planning, time management, and social aspects? What is the best advice you have for College Life?
Stay away from frats/sororities, college parties, alcohol, marijuana, meth, etc.
Do your f**king homework - if you are buried and need more time on a project, talk the teacher rather than just not turning it in - as long as you aren't just slacking, and are making an honest effort - they will usually understand (but don't take it for granted either).
Set your priorities - classes and homework trump all other social aspects of school - if people think you are a geek or a loser, then f**k them, what you do now has a lot to do with where you will end up later. College is supposed to prepare you for real life - most fail miserably because a young kid going directly into college from high school and suddenly not having any parental supervision is a recipe for disaster (there are obvious exceptions - but they are pretty rare).
If you try to skim by in college and do the bare minimum in college, real life will come along and kick you square in the
teeth.
Make sure you are ready to go to school - and to make it your #1 priority, some people are better off to take a year or two to get their priorities straight - go get a job someplace and it makes you much more aware of why it is important to get an education - you can't actually support a family (or even yourself) flipping burgers (though thousands and thousands of people try every day).
Good luck!!What is the best advice you have for College Life?
Thanks!
I've been pretty fortunate myself - I went to ITT and got a bachelors in electronics engineers. I actually ended up doing electrical engineering design work after years of doing various technical jobs. It's been a wild ride - and that piece of paper from ITT has made it all possible.

the freshman fifteen is easy to reach, so pace yourself eating. parties are okay, but partying too hard and getting wasted every night is not cool. its really annoying, and it gets old really fast. keep your school work above all else. if you are already a procrastinator, then you probably will be in college too. just make sure you get the work done, and go to as many classes as you can. above all else, be yourself, and be confident. don't be scared or nervous about your grades. just do your best, and know that your professors are really there to help you. you shouldn't have any problems getting adjusted after a while. good luck!!!
One thing I hear a lot is to be careful about social eating, or about the choices you're suddenly given. They call it the freshman fifteen for a reason--it's really easy to gain weight after starting college.
And time management--don't wait until the last minute for anything, especially not studying for exams. Cramming a whole night before an exam may actually make your grade worse because not only can your brain not remember things like that, but you won't have gotten any sleep, either.
don't party too much on weeknights....it'll be tough, but try to save it for the weekends. absolutely attend classes, or you'll fall behind. you'll have enough time to get your work done, depending on major and how many credits. just focus...you'll do fine! college is great!
yes you got them in the right order but social has to take a back seat to study EVERY TIME. and may often not make the cut

Where is the best place to turn to find good financial advice regarding my family's retirement?
I am 43 and my daughter is 4. I am starting late on saving for retirement and would like to set aside money for my daughter's education. I am considering hiring a CFA to set up some accounts to accomplish both these goals. Aside from liking the CFA's approach, I have little knowledge of his background and track record. Is there a good way to approach the situation and sift through the over abundance of funds and options available? I hope to retire in about 20 years and send my daughter to four years of college. Is there any hope of accomplishing these goals, with little set aside so far?Where is the best place to turn to find good financial advice regarding my family's retirement?
You can do what you want to. It'll just take a little more saving and savvy on your part. Your daughter can start at a community college. State schools are affordable and offer a fine education as well. Since I'm in your business anyway, it's a noble thought to want to provide for your daughter. But if she has to pay for all or some of her education herself she'll be a lot more appreciative of what it means to go to school. She can take out loans. If you want to be a good provider you can surprise her by helping her pay them off. Besides, nobody goes through four years of college in four years any more. It's probably a good thing to start and stop a couple of times. As far as retirement, the ';experts'; say you need over a million to retire comfortably. I know a lot of people who retired very nicely on a lot less. If you work until you're 67 you can get full social security benefits. (Yes, it will still be there) You can (and probably should) get a part-time job in retirement. The important thing is to get started. You'll be a lot better off than if you don't.Where is the best place to turn to find good financial advice regarding my family's retirement?
Try this website for advice: www.choosetosave.org.
For the CFA, ask for three references. Call them and ask them how he did for them. Also check if he's appropriately registered as a business and has some sort of credentials to give advice.
I also like Money Magazine and Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine.
Good luck!

What is the best advice for a job interview?
I have an upcoming interview for a local retail store and I was wondering what advice you guys had that could help me out a little. I'm a 20 year old college student just trying to get this part-time job. Thanks! What is the best advice for a job interview?
Dress for success. Do not wear sexy. Wear well groomed and clean. Matching shoes and purse. (if you are female) Look at what those working there are wearing. Dress somewhat accordingly but if they are wearing jeans, that is a bit too casual for an interview. Wear a nice pair of slacks. Female Stay away form flashy jewelry and dangling earrings. Minimal is best on jewelry. Make sure your footwear is up to date, not scuffed or over worn. Be sure your purse is clean inside and neat.
Male or female, what ever you do if you have tatoos cover them and do not wear piercings in your lips, nose or brow or more than one in your earlobes. Make sure your breath is fresh, but don't chew gum.Your nails should be clean and cut at a reasonable length. A female whould wear a very light non-emphasized polish. Don't wear more than one ring per hand! Easy does it on makeup, but wear some.
Explain that while you don't have an experienced work background, you are especially skilled in working with people, (and with fashion if its a clothing store) and as a college student your grades show that you are a quick study and intelligent as well as punctual and reliable.
Emphaize you enjoy the public, take orders well and follow directives as well as like being a team player. If you have other skills that are applicable to the job for which you are applying, emphasize those. Example: Being familiar with a cash register, credit card machine, sales and paper work.
Having played on a sports team (showing the team mentality). Show a sense of humor without sounding like you do nothing but joke or have a nervous laugh and chatter. One light area of wit will do during an interview. Be honest and flexible concerning work schedules. If they want you to work during a class that you can't alter, you need to say so, but if they want you to work on Friday night and it interferes with your social life, its better to alter the social life. Shake hands at the introduction and in closure and thank the person for the interview. Follow up with a quick thank you note to your interviewer for taking time in her/his busy schedule for you and state you look forward to further communication. This is a way of keeping you first and foremost in their memory and showing them that you are a proper and appreciative person.
Have in mind what are your weak points and strong points because usually you will be asked. Try to make those as average as possible. If your weak point is uncontrolled children screaming in the store then let your strong point be an ability to distract children from misbehavior. But be prepared to state how you do that. Never get away from basic honesty. That way you don't get caught unprepared. The best to you....I wish you successWhat is the best advice for a job interview?
As the old saying goes ';first impressions last';...so make a good first impression
*dress in neat, respectful clothing (preferably long pants with a collared shirt and closed in shoes)
*make sure you are well groomed (clean hands and nails, tidy hair, aftershave/deodorant but not overboard)
*act confident but not cocky
*shake hands upon greeting
*be prepared (e.g. any supporting documentation you require; have it ready)
*memorise some positive words to describe yourself and your work ethic so when you are asked a question you have some words ready to go to build a sentence around (e.g. hard working, motivated, dedicated etc...whatever words describe you)
*be aware of your posture in the interview (e.g. don't slouch or sit too casually/laid back)
*be honest...
-Look the interviewer in the eyes
-Answer with straight to the point answers
-Remain confident
-Dress professional (at least slacks and a button up shirt)
-Research the company/store so you know it
-Have questions prepared should they ask you
-Be ready to answer the typical interview questions
TIPS:
1. Be honest
2. Be confident
3. Show what you got.

What is the best advice on raising teenagers?
Daughter is sensitive, naive and a bit on the impulsive side. Doubt that drugs and alcohol will be the rocks in the road she will stumble upon but guys... just a feeling I have. She seems to want to feel needed... More of introvert with large groups of people but more outgoing in smaller groups. Grades are excellent. What is the best advice on raising teenagers?
Whatever you do, dont be too nice or too sweet they will walk all over you.
Unfortunaetly you have to start out rasing them right at a very young age.
-But the best advice i can now give you is always be a MOM to them NOT a friend, be strict and dont take your eyes off of them.
-Always make sure you know who their friends are. No matter what they say ';DONT'; trust them they are teens and any chance they get to misbehave they will do it.
-My mom had the greatest qualities i parent should have:
Strict, Understanding, Nurturing, Had lots of rules for me and my brother to follow, etc.
-Everytime i wanted to go out and have fun with my so called friends she always told me ';no'; there is time for everything.
She was right!
I hated her back in my teen years. I hardly ever had fun, i was very miserable. I was only allowed to go out with my family or my two best friends. And it sucked because i wanted to be more popular in high school, and i taught that by going to parties and hanging out with kids i would acheive my goal. I was never to popular in high school.
But now i look back and i thank her everyday more and more for being such a good mom. I've realised that there is time for everything, and now that i am mature enough i have SAFE fun and i love my life. I'm just starting to live.
My childhood was the best childhood ever because i didnt grow up to fast like most kids today.
and now more than ever i realise that my mom did a great job and that all parents should be like her.
Good luck
and i reall really really hoped i helped
What is the best advice on raising teenagers?
I would make room for alot of mother and daughter time inviting her friends over when convieant Watching who she hangs out with encouraging her to join things at school my friends kids always told me what was going on tell her if there is anything she wants to tell you you are there for her one hundred percent the key to teenagers keep them occupied and busy and talk to them even when attitude strikes yelling is worthless sitting down calmly talking to them works
Make sure you don't embarrass her, try and get a night that shes not busy on and find out her favorite type of movie, if she doesn't have friends over she'll probably want some company and you could try watch it on the couch next to her. :D
Try and sit the boys down and have a talk.. not so much about where they're going in life, more or less about how they will treat her.
Tell them that they can't hurt your little girl or you'll grab you sledge hammer..
Lmao
And remember NEVER embarrass her but do make her look and feel independent (like letting her go out.)
always be a mother to her but i have found that being best friends with my daughters has helped immensely. my daughters talk to me about alot of things and i don't think we have too many secrets. the best thing you can do is always be there for her. good luck
She sounds alot like i am just let her know that your proud about the grades and just let her have her space while at the same time letting her know that your glad she's there if that makes sense....
Pray and then pray some more. God Bless.puffy eye cream skin treatment

Yeah, it's always the way! I think that people have told me certain things repeatedly in my life and I still don't get it. Don't beat yourself up about it. You need to think more highly of yourself. You're fine.
My mum when she asked me not to marry my 1st husband, but do teenagers ever listen....No.!!

I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?
I went to the Unversity of Michigan, then became a sales rep... had the job I SHOULD have wanted, but got no enjoyment out of it even though I was very good at sales. During this time i've had off, i've decided that I would really enjoy being a hair stylist and I think specifically a hair colorist. What advice does anyone have on picking a school (preferably in michigan), starting over at 26, what options I should look into (spa, salon, renting a chair, etc) and also marketing myself once I get thru school (or does anyone offer cheap hair cuts, etc, while they're in school??). Thanks! :)I am making a career change... I would like to be a hairstylist, any advice?
Career planning is a continuous development process through which we attempt to understand our personal, family, school, work and community experiences and the significance they are likely to have in building career and choice of lifestyle. We need to identify opportunities and to identify options. We need to examine our personal interests and skills as they relate to a variety of career opportunities to help us make appropriate and realistic decisions. Keep in mind that the goal of exploring career is not just employment but a purposeful of integrating our personal interests and values with the kinds of work that are most satisfying for us.

U r Welcome.
Hi. Sounds like you are going to do something you truly like. Since you have a good background, I would attempt to find my way into a spa. They are the nicest jobs, with decent money. You could always rent a chair, build a clientel and then try to move up. Make sure this is what you want to do before you make the switch, go observe a saloon for a day and speak to the workers there. It will be tough to get by on a stylist's wages unless you get very popular. Good luck.
no idea darling
if your gonna do that i wouldn't just do hair do nails and masseuse i live in northern AL and i would go to a technical college because they have more hands on and less expensive so id go to drake but that's not in Michigan.
look you should do it girl my mom is a hair stylist and she owns her own business she does celebrities hair
keep ur finger crossed
well i really don't no what to tell you.
i would see if that same college have hair speclitist course. and if you have the money but if you already know the basic and the important stuff you shouldn't have to pay that much money.
Oh and your smiley face is missing a nose. :-)
I do not think it is a good thing to do in Michigan. There is an over abundunce of hairstylist for no jobs. However if you are finacially stable aand can go for something to fall back on some day I say go for it it is very fun. I went to the Huron Area Tech center In Bad Axe MI
hey well being a cosmetologist myself not a good career change for me and or my friends i went to school with. it is a lot of hard work in school and once your out of school. Many placed ive been to dont pay enough and people dont TIP big one there. ive worked at high end salons and not so nice ones either. No benifits or anything it really sucks for me i had a bad foot and a bad back now from it its really killing me and im only 27 anyway not to discourage you or anything but just a little tip to let you know what your gonna get into and for renting a booth remember you have to buy all your own things and have a clientel that means if you dont how are you going to pay for your booth weeek to week Well i hope this help for you and good luck
Good choice, start out at a well know Spa as this will give you a good reputation %26amp; name for your self, and once qualified practice on family %26amp; friends. Make sure you are placed in a well known School, I cant advice on that as I dont live in America, I live in Australia.Word of mouth will get you your clietelle, if you prove you are very very good at what you do, and do it with confidence, differance and a great imagination. Always keep up with the changers %26amp; trends, even if you have to go to expo's yourself %26amp; most of all enjoy your self. I wish you all the luck on your new career:)

What is the best advice to prevent from get rid of a reckless driving charge?
I was charged with reckless driving in the state of VA recently. I was clocked in at 81/55 mph zone. This is in Caroline County also (yes pretty dumb of me). I had no idea about the charges of reckless driving in VA since I live in Maryland. It was my first time ever driving in VA. But anyway I was pulled over and the cop told me if you appear in court the judge will order you to take a driving class of your choice, a court fee and a lesser charge. This is my first offense and am just wondering since I will be representing my self, should I plead guilty to ';improper driving'; (speeding charge) and plead not guilty to reckless driving? or any other considerations? thank you am 20 years old by the way. What is the best advice to prevent from get rid of a reckless driving charge?
I say be a man and own up to the responsibility of your choices. Plead guilty.
Let's face it, 81 in a 55 is CRAZY.What is the best advice to prevent from get rid of a reckless driving charge?
i just got the same charge, in the same county.... what exactly did u plea?
Take the class and the lesser fee. A reckless driving charge could come back to haunt you in insurance, employment, etc.

What is some good advice if you are trying to get a job in a different city?
Do you have to move there first? Can you get a temporary address in the city before you go? How long before you are ready to relocate should you send out resume's?What is some good advice if you are trying to get a job in a different city?
Ideally would be for you to find a job first before you start packing. Unless you're financially secured for at least 6 months. What is some good advice if you are trying to get a job in a different city?
Some people take a week's vacation from work and go to the city they plan next to work in and apply at different companies. You can also send out your resume or do that online. Some places use handwriting analysis as a tool and others use the internet to make initial decisions as to if they want to interview you in person or not. Others call you in for testing. Still others want you to apply on their computers.
I would not waste a lot of time sending out resumes. Go to the city's agencies and ask what's available, or look in the Wall Street Journal or their WSJ employment website. Or apply at places for weekend or evening work and work while you look. When you go to a city you can get a postal box at several places immediately (if you have the cash) so you'll have a physical address. Otherwise go to work in a city where you already have relatives there and ask if you can use their address till you get settled. Or ask if you can hole up in their home for a couple of weeks till you get work and a place to live. Of course, pay your relatives for your stay and food.

What is the best advice to give someone that is contemplating suicide?
What if they do now want to go to a therapist? What if they just gave up? All jokes aside...what would you tell that person? What is the best advice to give someone that is contemplating suicide?
# Talk to the person about how they're feeling.
# Listen to what the person says - sometimes, when a person wants to talk, they're not always seeking advice, but just need to talk about their concerns.
# Maintain eye contact and sit in a relaxed position - positive body language will help both people feel more comfortable.
# Use open-ended questions such as ';So tell me about...?'; which require more than a 'yes' or 'no' answer. This is often a good way to start a conversation.
# If conversation becomes difficult or if the person with depression gets angry, stay calm, be firm, fair and consistent and don't lose control.
# Often, just spending time with the person lets them know someone cares and understands them.
# Encourage the person to seek professional help from their family doctor or a mental health worker.
# Take care of yourself. Supporting someone with depression can be demanding. Family and friends should take 'time out' to look after themselves. What is the best advice to give someone that is contemplating suicide?
omg are u serious ??? if so tell them to hang on in there whatever they are going through can not be so bad they want to end there life. as a Friend be there for them as its a massive cry for help , in time he/she WILL get over it a be very grate full that you were there for them and stopped them , as you have to think ov the people he/she will be leaving behind and wot will it do to them , hope this helps and good luck love Tracey
Tell that person not to throw away his/her life and that you'll be there for him/her.
Most people won't tell others if they're really hurt or disturbed so its up to you, as a friend, to notice and be the cushion for them to fall on.
I'd advice him to make sure it is nicer in the other side.
for it might be worse. and does not worth the effort.
I think it is called a section 35.
yes, you call the police dept. and place that person under protective custody. (without them knowing).
tell them they are going to die anyway, so why not live and enjoy it while they are alive...death gets us all eventually...why bring it on early...
All of the advice I saw posted is very great! Use it all! Make sure you stay with that person until the storm passes!
To hang in there. Life will only get better.
um dont do it and ur life is important to at least some people! and geeze y r they even gonna do that?!!?1

What is the best advice for a mother trying to become a med student?
Okay this is going to be a long one, but here it goes......Okay I am 20 and a single parent. As of right now, I'm attending college and it's okay ( i think i need to transfer to another school to do better) but i am wondering what do I have to do to get into a good medical school? I mean i know the field is very competitive and I am trying to get all info and help I can.....What is the best advice for a mother trying to become a med student?
Single moms do become doctors, so you can, too.
The GPA has to be high, especially in the pre-med courses. The MCAT score also has to be high, so spend your summers reviewing for it or spend them getting ahead on the coursework.
If you find time, hospital work or medical research looks good on an application.
You cannot use the fact that you're a single mom as an excuse for doing less well (unless you can show them it was only at the beginning and now you're managing), because med school will be that much more intense and they won't take you if they think you can't manage both.
Best line up some very reliable childcare, because you'll be studying intensively and will need to go to all the classes, get the work done on time - even when your kids are sick. That will continue through your internship and residency, and you'll also work on call hours once you're practicing, so consider it your lifestyle, not a temporary need.
But like I said, there are women who do it. Hey, look at this! http://www.collegemommagazine.com/colleg鈥?/a>
Best of luck! What is the best advice for a mother trying to become a med student?
You need good grades, take extra science courses outside of the basics (especielly graduate level science courses), volunteer/work in medical areas (anything), volunteer to do research with a professor with whatever he is working on, get good recommendations.
I personally love Doctor odf Osteopathic Medicine (DO) schools. They are much more open to people from non-traditional backgrounds.puffy eye cream skin treatment

What is your best advice when air traveling with small children?
My husband and I are going to the east coast of canada from Ontario (where we live) on friday night. This is the first time we've travelled as a family. And i'm scared to death!! My kids are 5 (girl) 3 (girl) 9 months (boy) Any advice whatsoever to help me survive this adventure would be more than appreciated! What is your best advice when air traveling with small children?
Movies!! Find out if they have access to play DVD's on the plane that kept my little sister quiet the whole ride. If not see if a friend has a portable DVD player you can borrow and mail back to them once you arrive home. If not try to get some food in your carry on they like, something to snack on will keep them happy, don't forget drinks. Toys, but not too small because if they drop it then you're on a search trying to find out where the little car rolled to. Not too big either because there won't be a ton of room. Coloring books. Give them inside windows they'll love looking outside even at night it's cool on the plane to look out. If you give your kids gum, give them gum to chew it'll help a lot with popping their ears as you change altitudes.
The baby you're going to want to keep up as much as possible during the day so he'll want to sleep on the plane. He'll probably be awake as your rushing to find you're gate and emptying your pockets and going through metal detectors but try to get him to sleep on the plane and play with the girls. Keep them busy, maybe even a nap if they get tired, most airplanes have pillows and blankets. What is your best advice when air traveling with small children?
My son is three, and the only real problem I have with him is take off and landing. His ears hurt him so bad. Give the 5 year old gum to chew, you might be able to tell the 3 year old to ';blow her nose real hard'; (thats what i do with my son) and the 9mon old, theres no much relief..
I read to my son during the flight. I'm quiet, but colorful, and passangers don't seem to mind. One time, a woman with a child asked to be moved next to me because I was reading to my son, and she was having a hard time keeping her daughet calm. It worked. I would also play the color game with him to. I would point to something and say ';what color is that??'; and he would answer. And you know airports have colors, and crazy carpet designs...Don't worry if other people think your silly for playing hopscotch on the carpet..they should be thankful they aren't screaming! lol
Bring soft toys, and little snacks...think cerals, crackers, ect...bring drink mixes and buy water (or fill up in a water fountain)
Just keep them entertained and all should be good!
Get the complimentary kiddie set from the air crew and play with the 5 and 3yr old. Keep the 9mth old awake as long as possible beforehand as otherwise you're just going to incur the wrath of every fellow passenger. No sugar beforehand and you should be OK.
Wasn't it great in bygone days when you could bring a kid to see the cockpit!!?!?

How do I know if my financial advisor is giving me good advice?
I don't know much about investments and stocks, so I trust my advisor to make all of my decisions about my IRA. All of the money is in one mutual fund, is that normal? How do I know if my financial advisor is giving me good advice?
rediculous to expect 24%,
8k is not a lot to invest, so depending on the fund you are just fine with one fund, there may be some fees that come with a low account balance that your advisor is saving you from, sometimes an account with over 10k in it has some benefits, hard to say without knowing the fund,
you cant just say that it is a bad advisor because its in one fund, and you absolutely cant say that you cannot have all your money in one fund, you just dont know the situation,it could be a target date fund, where the money should only be in one fund,
how old are you and what fund does he have you in?How do I know if my financial advisor is giving me good advice?
Having everything in one stock is really, really bad. A mutual fund is contains a group of stocks. It can be a few or it can be a whole lot of individual stocks. Nevertheless, investing in only mutual fund is also really, really bad. If anything goes wrong with that fund you are wiped out. Your advisor is giving you bad advice and direction. There are different categories of mutual funds: Aggressive growth, foreign, growth, small cap, large cap, tech,etc..... You want to be diversified within the fund and in the types of funds you have your nest egg in. If your advisor is part of a larger company talk to another advisor in the company. It's time to move either to another advisor, or better to another company. Also, just do a search on Google, or Yahoo on how to invest in mutual funds. They will give you a good basic primer of how to diversify. It really isn't that difficult.
Remember, the worse thing you can do is just give someone your money and hope they do well by you. This guy may be getting kickbacks from the fund he has you in. Or, he may just be an idiot.
You can tell if the information is given by a advisor who is paid by salary by his firm and not commission. That way he has nothing to gain from giving you advice on a particular stock.
My question would be how much money is in your IRA? If it is less than $2,500. then being in one mutual fund is find. If it is more than that then it should be in more than one. What he is doing is keeping all of your eggs in one basket and we know what happened with Enron employees who kept all their IRA money in company stock.
I would question his reason for keeping it in one and discuss the principals of diversification. You really do not want to keep it in one in case something happens that causes that sector to go down. You need to be in more than one sector so that when one goes down it will be offset with one that goes up. This happens all the time.
I would discuss this with your adviser and if he is not willing to make some changes, I would look for another ad visor.
If you are making at least 24% yearly then your Financial Advisor is giving you good advice.
It's not wise to invest all your money in the same Mutual Fund.
If that is not the case then fire him and let me help you for FREE.

Earliest in 2or 3 months and if longer in a year. By this time, you will know what happened to ;your investment and you can always make a decision to continue or have an alternative source. Financial advisors or cos., for the same purpose can be evaluated even before entering into agreements through their fianancial results and the website with FAQs.

If you are not sure if your FA is giving you a good advice. Consult more FAs and if the advise is the same. It might be a good advice. It is normal if you do not have the time to invest and all in a mutual fund. I do hope that your investment is based on long term not short term.
The questions are, how broad based is the fund (is it very well diversified) , how much does the fund cost; is your adviser compensated by the fund, do you qualify for breakpoints by putting in a large sum.
Also find out if their is a CDSC if you pull out your money.
How much is in your IRA; if you say under $10k, then nvesting in one fund is not so odd.
He is not, he clearly made some money out of your interests and did not provide you with 1300 dollars of progression of harassment, which he did fail to engage as depot. Charge him allimony credit, this will enact your balance some 250 a month, but he should pay you more in redit. Talk to a creditor your father knows, he should count on friendship alone, and give you support, tell your daddy everything you know about it. You will have most of your money sent, invest in horses, much is needed there, I present it as you as well. Bye.

What is the worst advice one could give to High School students?
i was asked to give advice, and I want to give the worst possible. What is the worst advice one could give to High School students?
Become a bum. Do nothing. Dream nothing. What is the worst advice one could give to High School students?
The worst advise that you can give to a high school student is telling them to take life one day at a time. They are only in high school for cryin out loud. they have futures to plan for! if they take it one day at a time they will never build goals or dreams. Life is too short to live the same day twice and if they aren't careful that is what will happen.
umm have sex all the time, do drugs, go party till you die, sleep with as many people as possible, always try to act cool, hit a teacher in the face, go and do whatever you want, skip school, nail the principal in the balls, cuss out your teacher, do pot in the bathroom, take naked pics of themselves and send them around.
lol. there are a ton of options here!
: )
It sounds like asking you to give advice is the worst possible advice.
TRY YOUR BEST AND DONT CHEAT!!!! OOOHHHHH YYYEEAAAHH!!!!!!!
work hard. you dont need to in high school. just take it easy and enjoy the time

What is the best advice you can give to a teen using illegal drugs?
Give the best advice for a teen who uses illegal drugs.
Illegal drugs may be such as marijuana, cocaine, etc.
Best answer will be chosen Friday morning.
Thanks,
VioletWhat is the best advice you can give to a teen using illegal drugs?
Hey.. I guess to be completely honest it's really hard to say anything to a teen using drugs... I guess it's really the age. I was fifteen when I started smoking weed and doing coke and ectasy and acid... Oh and drniking of course and smoking cigarettes....I tried talking to my mom because in the beginning I was just curious but I noticed it was turning into a habit and when my mother started calling me names and calling me a drug addict and throwing everything I trusted her with in my face I got worse.. All I can say to you is to let them know that you love them and remind them of all the good memories you had with them when they were born. Just remind him/her how important they are to you and they can trust you..At one point I thought my life was already so messed up I couldn't mess it up anymore.. I was afraid I dug myself so deep that drugs and drinking were my life... I turned into a blackout drunk and I got into xanax and I passed out at some places not remembering anything the next day. I surrounded myself with bad friends who were also the main reason I did wut I did because I wanted to belong... I ended up getting suicidal because from all that it turned into a depression.. I felt like I was never gonna get better... I thought I was dying and I estimated my life to end at thirty from some disease or from hurting myself. I felt worthless... But one day I woke up... I saw my family and saw how I was hurting my dad... The one who stuck by me thru everything and I was just watching him wither away...I decided it was time for me to get rid of those friends because they were my greatest influence and when I didn't have money they'd be right there helping me out because they needed someone to go down with them... Finally I met my current boyfriend and he was my fresh start.. He never used drugs and yes he drank but socially. I decided I wanted to get a job.My parents were finally proud of me... Trusted me.. And that meant everything to me. I had officially quit my crazy lifestyle... But I knew it was super official the day I found out I was going to have a baby... I felt like my life was finally falling into place... That was my new reason for living and stop being selfish to myself and my family... But i'll be completely honest if I hadn't gotten rid of those friends right now I'd be dead from a car accident because when your messed up you don't realize the result of the bad descisions you make like driving... And if not that I'm pretty sure I would have died from an incurable std or overdosing... I was extremely promiscuous at that time in my life but I did stop when I met my boyfrind... But when I went to the doctors and had all my tests done everything came back fantastic and I knew that everything from that point on had completely changed.. That God had blessed me with so much that I had taken for granted and from that point on I had a new greater apprectiation for life... And I would never go back.. Ever... Tell them there's hope and that you'll be there no matter what..But don't go overboard where they can't breathe lol...I think a part of the problem is also that the parent might not be strict either though.. If things get out of hand and nothing works unfortunately tough love is the hardest to do but probably the other best way to go... The idea of losing everyone that loved you and never judged you are gone is the hardest thing to cope with... But theres not always a positive result with everything...Have a lot of faith... If the drugs takes over know that deep down that's your baby and they need help, support, attention, sometimes maybe not as much... But don't makes thing easy for them either... I had friends whos parents gave them evrything and with that money was the way we got everthing we needed to get messed up every night... I would say rehab but for some people it could be a phase... If addiction is a problem in your family then drugs and alcohol will be a problem with your child unless you do something now.. I know I wrote so much but I hope with my story you can get an idea or somehing out of it but there's no best advice.. It's whatever works for your child..You can do it and I'm sure your child will get through it.. Oh and by the way rehab works for some.. If it gets to that point suggest a rehab but not a regular detox where they just ween you off the drug go full force at least three months plus...Well alright I'm going to stop before it turns into a novel but good luck and God Bless...
Sorry it's so long...What is the best advice you can give to a teen using illegal drugs?
Start planning the funeral, sorry harsh but true.
thy r expensive u get free ones from me
or
hey look these drugs r making u look 10 years younger
If you want a shorter more painful life then go right ahead but if you want a longer nicer life than stay away.
First, stop.
Second, find your dad, have him get a paddle and then bend over his knee and then tell him the mess you're making of your life.
in my time i've known a number of people including adults that have abused drugs and alcohol. whether it is legal or not, if it is an addiction, someone needs help. sometime they ask for it out-right. other times its not so simple. the best advice for a teen using or abusing drugs or alcohol (just because its legal doesnt mean its always safe) is to know your limit. using in recreation for the time being is one thing. who hasn't used at some point for fun? but if one is sensing that it has become a habit or out of control for themselves or a friend...get help. the earlier the better. its not a joke its a disease. especially when you get into harder drugs than weed and drinking.
best of luck Violet
my best advice would be yes its fun I'm not gonna lie...been there done that....i think as long as it is just pot and nothing else you need to realize what it does to your life it makes you lazy in the end get you *** to school cuz I'm kicking myself now for it...i know to many ppl who lied about drugs and really end up throwing their lives away because of it
if its hard drugs coke,LSD, anything worse i would say get the help you need NOW don't wait don't wait around for some one to find out your doing and get you help...don't hurt your family and friends for drugs! don't make your mom cry if she has to come find you O.D. in your bedroom half alive or not alive at all
my best friends hubby to be was in to heroin and crack he did alot of stupid things hurt his family and friends really bad he was in jail but now he is clean he has a baby and is a very respectable person...no one needs that kinda hurt or past that ppl are gonna remember you for forever he has a hard time getting the job he needs to support a family because of a drug charge he can't even take my friend out of the country for a honey moon because he has a felony
It depends upon whether you are a friend or parent.
if you are a friend, then let the teen's parents know.
if you are the parent, i think that mandatory Narcotics Anonymous meetings might help... these people are serious about quitting drugs, and will let a teen know what it's REALLY all about -- living in gutters, no one there for you, nothing to eat, begging, living in filth, and the list goes on.
making your teen attend these meetings is quite a wake up call. i know, my son was in attendance when he was 17. He is now 31, drug free, never had a relapse and has a great job and family.
they would have been tuaght all this before they entered teens

And messes you up but be honest and mention all the good feeling too so have credibility saying yup starts like this... ends like that

stop before you either die or fry your brain
Tell them to think for themselves and to research and really think about the drugs they may want to experiment with -- the good AND bad effects. Tell them that doing drugs to fit in is pretty lame and to make sure that anything the choose to do is because they themself would like to do it. And make sure they realize that every action has a possible consequence (addiction, legal trouble, regretful behavior) even if the negative consequences aren't guaranteed to happen.
STOP!!!!!! You're killing yourself!
Get help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is a tough one. cus teens see things from many different views. if i was the friend i'd probably let them know that they are changing before your very own eyes and that the change is not for the better and that you want to be friends with them till yall are old in wheel chairs together havin races around the nursing home but if they keep doin what they are doin then how yall would have to take a break from each other cus you dont want to see your friend going down that road. and let them know that you are always there for them but will never give them money or the drug but to talk to if they want to find help you can help them. ask them if they want help quiting if they say yes then go to someone like a parent or school counselor. cus its true you can't help somebody who doesn't want to change for the better.
if you feel like they are so deep into the experimental phase that there is no way for them to recover go directly to their parents though. then it will be their parents problem and they will have to resolve it within the family.
if its not a friend, then maybe try to be friends with them at a standard level of aquaintence and talk to them about what they are tryin to do in life. and ask them if they need help or someone to talk to. let them know you are open to talk to but wont give out money or drug. but that when they are ready you can be there to talk to and help them get help.
Use in moderation and don't get caught.

my best advice would be yes its fun I'm not gonna lie...been there done that....i think as long as it is just pot and nothing else you need to realize what it does to your life it makes you lazy in the end get you *** to school cuz I'm kicking myself now for it...i know to many ppl who lied about drugs and really end up throwing their lives away because of it
if its hard drugs coke,LSD, anything worse i would say get the help you need NOW don't wait don't wait around for some one to find out your doing and get you help...don't hurt your family and friends for drugs! don't make your mom cry if she has to come find you O.D. in your bedroom half alive or not alive at all
my best friends hubby to be was in to heroin and crack he did alot of stupid things hurt his family and friends really bad he was in jail but now he is clean he has a baby and is a very respectable person...no one needs that kinda hurt or past that ppl are gonna remember you for forever he has a hard time getting the job he needs to support a family because of a drug charge he can't even take my friend out of the country for a honey moon because he has a felony

One of the 'Mental Health and Growing Up' fact sheets produced by The Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Cocaine tught them all about the process and how it results in wars and terrorisim in columbia... how much of it is inside human mules and shitted out. how it makes very nasty people very powerful
And messes you up but be honest and mention all the good feeling too so have credibility saying yup starts like this... ends like that
and safety info if taking stuff like on ecstasy use testing kits, never drink lots of water, have lots of mineral suppliments and salt and make sure you stay cool
stop before you either die or fry your brain
