What is your advice for unwinding after a tough day's teaching?

It really churns my head up. Music, television, friends - nothing seems to work - after they are over the churning comes back and it sometimes gives me a sleepless night. What would you advise? What is your advice for unwinding after a tough day's teaching?
Exercise: join a yoga class, or tai chi, or even a drum circle. The first two help you relax; the drum circle helps you beat out your anger. The drum is all the children who made your day yuk. Beat it hard, until the anger is out. When you are finished you should be able to smile at the same children the next day. If you do a search for drum circle, you should find a local one.

If not, put you question in again. I know someone who sells ';health rhythms'; but you have to pay. What is your advice for unwinding after a tough day's teaching?
I know the feeling. It took me about 4 or 5 years before I could shut it off, and even then...

In my first school, I lived within walking distance of my school. I spent a lot of time there - it was really easy to go and do one more hour, one more job,,,

In my new job - which should be more stressful as I have more responsibilities, I live a 20 minutes drive from school. I find that I obsess less about school as I have the drive as a 'wind-down'; time. I don't know if that is something that could work for you.

I also started taking yoga and pilates. I swim 2-3 times a week. I only take work home at the weekends unless I can't avoid it - I would rather stay at school until 6 at night than take things home (having said that, I do wind up bringing work home at least one night - I just try not to!)

I have also gone to counselling when things got too bad. That was also very helpful.

You need to find ways that work for you - mostly for your own sake, but you will be a better teacher if you can find some balance in your life.
