dont be nervous it will be fun. try your best to listen and dont get discouraged by thte other people some of them will be really good.....but they have done it a while. make sure you stretch before you do anything dont want o pull a muscle. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!I'll be taking my first Tae Kwon Do class today. Any advice?
As long as it makes you happy, keep with it. Enjoy what you train. That is about it.
Never, ever, ever fall asleep. you might get kicked without you knowing it.
if you are over 18 wear a thong.
Just do your best %26amp; you'll be ok!
Just pay attention to the teacher and have fun.
dont go mate. tae kwon do is rubbish. better off learning ju-jitsu like spirit combat :)
Try, but don't try too hard until you've got the hang of it. There are a lot of kicking movements in TKD. If you try too hard, you will blow a fart or fall on your butt. That's over 10 years of TKD experience and after witnessing more than 1000 instances of both. Happened every class. Most of the time, if it was a new student, they never came back. Oh, and I ripped my pants once kicking too high and trying to avoid buying a new uniform while I was a growing boy.
About TKD itself, it's not really a self-defense art. If you're there to have fun, learn kicking technique, stay in shape, be flexible, make friends, be fawned over by guys, and not be an Ultimate Fighter, then TKD is right for you.
Tae Kwon Do is fun and a little hard but the first day isn't so bad. You will be moving alot so I advise you to take a bottle of water with you to class. If you have Asama take your pump 15 min before the class starts. Just listen to the Sensi and talk to the other belts, especially the higher belts because they are advance and they've been in your shoes.
well.. its your first class.. So I suggest you pay extra more attention to details, and think about how you will go about practicing certain exercises that best suits your body condition.
Also it's actually a great time to have serious think about wether you would enjoy this martial arts if you would to continue, or there would be other styles that could possibly be more suitable for you instead.
It's very simple, you either like it and will continue do it for life, or its not your thing, then dont waste too much time on it if that is the case, and explore other things better suited for you in life.
make sure you really stretch , that is the key , stretch at your house before you go to class you can never over stretch if you do it right
make sure when you are done doing somthing say a kick and the teacher guy says C you say C back really loud! And before and after class make sure you bow like put your feet in like a v shape with your heels touching and then put your ands togther and against your chest then bow your head.
Before breaking any boards w/ your bare hands...remember to ';Think through the boards';...that's key.
No seriously...warm up, stretch...and wear loose, comfortable clothes (assuming you don't have a Gi yet).
Deep breath..... Let it out..... Now go have fun.....
dont go i just found out today that triditional martial arts is nothin but bull**** all this time ive ben workin my *** off and today they tell me its BULL**** why would god do this to me why why
Dont try so hard on the first i took ta kwon do and i got really mest up if when i try to hard.
Understand that your nerves are normal. Instructors do not expect you to be Jackie Chan your first day in class. In fact most instructors will understand that you are nervous and not expect you to do anything out of your comfort level. Just make sure you stay respectful and if you make a mistake just work through it. Being your first class I would really recommend asking alot of questions and take your knowledge home and practice practice practice.
