I want to be a mentor at at teen camp and to apply i have to write an esay... i need advice.?

it asks me to state why i think i could be a good role model, and how i can contribute by being a mentor. im not sure how anyone can state how they think their a good role model without sounding arogant, so i need ideas, and advice on what to say.I want to be a mentor at at teen camp and to apply i have to write an esay... i need advice.?
Talk about how you live a clean life -- no drinking or smoking. How you believe in Natural Highs only and that because you feel so strongly about that way of life you are certain that you can inspire others to live their lives that way too. If you play sports, talk about good sportsmanship and being a team player. If you are in band or chorus, talk about how music inspires you. Any passion you have that is a positive activity that can benefit others is a good talking point for showing what a good role model you would be.

Congrats to you for wanting to be a mentor at a teen camp. My daughter did that last summer and she said it was one of the best experiences she has had.I want to be a mentor at at teen camp and to apply i have to write an esay... i need advice.?
I think that in order to be a good mentor at a teen camp you need to answer this one alone. I could understand if you had a list of things you have combined and were having trouble putting it into an essay. However we may as well be the one getting the position as a mentor if we are the ones doing your essay, it kind of defeats the purpose of YOU writing it in order for YOU to get the position. Also if the only things you can think of make you sound arrogant then you aren't right for the job as a MENTOR. If you can come up with a list of things you have done, or what makes you want this job, or why you think you deserve it better than someone else applying, what you can offer, what you have done that is similar to this line of work then need help throwing it together, let me know *-*.
Tell them you can teach them the best ways to masterbate.
Well one thing I would do is that perhaps you can think of yourself in the third person. In effect I would think that it would help detach yourself from a mental mindset where you think of yourself ';arrogantly'; and instead think of yourself from another individuals point of view.

You could also make a list of things that apply to you.

For example I believe a good role model to also be a good leader.

That person is charismatic, inspirational, and finds creative ways to deal with negative situations.

A good role model forms an educated opinion about life and experiences AFTER having dealt with them. I think to explain this further, say you had instances in the past where you went to camp and you had bad mentors and leaders...they wouldn't communicate well and you always felt lost or something of the sort. You having dealt with this, I think you would want to better the state of camp couselors and mentors. Therefore you would take initiative and try to be talkative and things that the previous people you dealt with lacked.

Hope this helps.

What kind of advice would you give someone who is debating a long distance relationship?

My friend met this guy over a break and they hit it off well, but he lives a couple of states away. She doesn't know how to handle it. Whether to just let it go or trying to keep it going. She asked me what I thought, but I have no experience in this to help her with. Any ideas? What kind of advice would you give someone who is debating a long distance relationship?

What is your advice for unwinding after a tough day's teaching?

It really churns my head up. Music, television, friends - nothing seems to work - after they are over the churning comes back and it sometimes gives me a sleepless night. What would you advise? What is your advice for unwinding after a tough day's teaching?
Exercise: join a yoga class, or tai chi, or even a drum circle. The first two help you relax; the drum circle helps you beat out your anger. The drum is all the children who made your day yuk. Beat it hard, until the anger is out. When you are finished you should be able to smile at the same children the next day. If you do a search for drum circle, you should find a local one.

If not, put you question in again. I know someone who sells ';health rhythms'; but you have to pay. What is your advice for unwinding after a tough day's teaching?
I know the feeling. It took me about 4 or 5 years before I could shut it off, and even then...

In my first school, I lived within walking distance of my school. I spent a lot of time there - it was really easy to go and do one more hour, one more job,,,

In my new job - which should be more stressful as I have more responsibilities, I live a 20 minutes drive from school. I find that I obsess less about school as I have the drive as a 'wind-down'; time. I don't know if that is something that could work for you.

I also started taking yoga and pilates. I swim 2-3 times a week. I only take work home at the weekends unless I can't avoid it - I would rather stay at school until 6 at night than take things home (having said that, I do wind up bringing work home at least one night - I just try not to!)

I have also gone to counselling when things got too bad. That was also very helpful.

You need to find ways that work for you - mostly for your own sake, but you will be a better teacher if you can find some balance in your life.

Does anyone have advice on buying a property from a developer before all work is completed?

I am in process of buying an old cottage that is in process of being updated by developers - they have nearly finished but still have to put in flooring, finish garden and add fitted kitchen appliances (eg taps, hobs, fitted oven etc). We put in an offer based on all remaining work being completed, but now they have accepted this offer they are trying to wriggle out of finishing off the job properly. Does anyone have any tips on how to negotiate to ensure we get it finished to a good standard?Does anyone have advice on buying a property from a developer before all work is completed?
I presume your offer to them wasn't in writing ?

If it was not then you could struggle to get a decent standard of finish or any finish.

You need to consult your solicitor and ask him to write to the developer clarifying your offer and include in the letter a schedule of finishes that you deem to be included in your offer. Make sure the schedule lists product specifics and types to avoid inferior materials being used.

The developer may be scared off by this but you are better in this situation rather than parting with money for a partially completed property.

As with previous answers, do not part with any money until you like what you see and always deal through a solicitor.

Good luckDoes anyone have advice on buying a property from a developer before all work is completed?
Don't give them any money until the house is finished. If necessary, just walk away.
On no account are you to hand over any money to them until the job is fully completed to your satisfaction, the world is full of mug's who trusted property developer's, dont.
Don't move in or pay until the work is finished, if you move in they will have an extra excuse that you were in the way so this or that could not be finished etc.
Never part with any money before the work is completed

My favorite is Wordpress, either free or self hosted. Most elite bloggers use Wordpress. If you really want to be successful and possibly make a little money I would suggest you go the self hosted route. But if you just want to do it for fun, free is perfectly fine.

If you want to be a successful blogger, my tips to you are:

1. Treat your blog like a business, but also have fun with it.

2. Learn as much about all the aspects of SEO as you can because they apply to blogs as well.

3. Realize that building up a substantial audience can take time so be patient.

4. Always post original content. Content that readers will find valuable.

I can give you so much more advice but I'll keep it short for now. Good luck!
You didn't mention if you want to make money with this blog, to enhance/supplement a current business, or if it is just for fun.

Below are some articles about blogging you might find helpful. They range from beginner information to blogging for dollars to marketing your blog.

As for what blog to post in... google the topic of your blog plus the word blog. What are others using in your topic/area of interest? That's the one I would choose. Be where the competition is!! You can always duplicate your blogs in other sites, such as blogger, facebook, etc.

Have fun!!
I think it depends on what kind of blog you would like to do. It is educational, personal etc. My advice would be to start posting at message boards and information people about it, maybe even some YouTube videos. Also send out MySpace and Facebook alerts.

here are some nice tech blogs listed on here http://technorati.com/pop/blogs/ honestly, the most famous blogs are ones hosted by celebrities, etc.

So hope that helps a little bit.
1. Think about content. You should put great content so visitors will continue to come in.

2. Good design will attract first time visitors to stay longer.

3. Keep it updated. If someone return to your blog and didn't see any updates then that someone might not return again.

Check my blog to get some ideas.

  • What is your advice about twins in same class at school?

I have 5 year old boy/girl twins. Everyone says I should seperate them when I send them to kindergarten. Currently, they are in the same preschool class. Is it more healthy for their developement that they be together or apart? Whats your advice? What is your advice about twins in same class at school?
I'd say apart--its a whole different element when you have siblings in the same class. They can't really relax because the sibling is in there and at the same time, they could relax a little too much and not take school seriously. Separating them allows them to form their own academic identities which is crucial for development and will help them to become successful adults. Many schools require siblings to be separated--it's easier on the kids and easier on the teacher because siblings often try to act up together. Good luck with this one! What is your advice about twins in same class at school?
You don't want to upset them. If they are really close, separating them may be traumatizing. I'd talk to them, and ask them what they think about kindergarten. Prepare them for it and they might end up wanting to be separated. If not, don't worry too much.

Speak to their teacher and make sure they are treated as two different people, not just as ';twins';.
I have twin granddaugters and when they started first grade they were put in different classes. I thnk it is a good idea. They were to able meet more friends and become a little more independent. They have no problems with it at all.
definitely apart i know many twins and there is sooooooooo much competition. if its a boy and girl maybe not as much as 2 girls or 2 boys- then there is tonz!!!!!!
I'm kinda unsure about this myself. If you separate them they will be more independent and won't have to rely on each other and other people will see them as individuals. On the other hand I also think it it would be nice to have them in the same class cos if i was a twin i'd like to have my twin in the same class as me.

I think it depends on their personalitys and I think that you'll know yourself whether to separate them. They might thank you for separating them in the long run or they mightn't. I dont think it matters much if you do or don't. It's not gonna have a really really big impact on the rest of their lives. The choice is up to you. Good luck xox
I plan on putting my twins in separate classes. They will become more independent. Also I think it will be easier on their teachers( I have twin girls that look almost the same). If you feel that your twins are dependent on each other or you think they may disrupt the class then you should separate them.
You're their mother and you know best. If they're really dependent on each other and tend to play together when in groups, you should separate them. You don't want to have them isolating themselves from their classmates. Some twins communicate differently between themselves and this isn't good for learning. Otherwise, it's not a big deal to keep them in the same class. They'll have the same assignments and be learning together which is nice.

What is some advice you could give a fellow poet on ways find inspiration and new words?

I just wated to hear from other poets on how to further my work and spirit, inspiration, words, editing etc.

Thanking you all in advance for your help...What is some advice you could give a fellow poet on ways find inspiration and new words?
The inclination to respond to this humorously is exceeded only by my great esteem for you and your already inspiring muse. I think that asking yourself and others questions like this is the worst possible thing you could be doing. You are a swan asking the birds around you how to be a goose. You remind me of the centipede who was asked which foot he moved first. As a result, he could no longer walk.

I would be glad to assist you in enlisting the aid of two friends of mine, Mr. Webster and Mr. Roget. But don't worry about inspiration, it's not necessary to push a flowing river. What is some advice you could give a fellow poet on ways find inspiration and new words?
I am not positive I understand your question, but I shall answer it as though I do. What I sometimes do to find objects or feelings or really anything else to put onto my poems, is simply go outside and look at things, think about something that someone has said to you, watch someone and see what they are acting like, try to experience how they are feeling. Also, for words, if you take a dictionary and just flip through until you find a word you have never heard before or have heard but don`t know, see what it means and keep doing that `til you have a list of words you like the sound and meaning of, and write a poem using them. My friend once did that and her poem was amazing! I have never personally tried.
Although I think you already have beautiful words and work, this is what I do.

I usually learn new words by reading....reading anything. If I don't know what a word means I look it up.

As far as inspiration, mine comes through life. Either something I'm going through or something I see. Something I care about or believe.

As far as editing goes I used to be better at it than I am now...lol....sad huh. I went to school for writing, but I learned just as much on my own. There is all kinds of resources out there to help with that. In bookstores and on the web.

    Anyway...I love your work.

I love to see others who like to learn and improve themselves, I always try to too.

Hope this helps in some way:)
Dearest, I suggest you consult your nearest dictionary. As for new inspiration, it is the poet's job to get inspired. You are so open already, I do not see the trouble with this. Reach out, fling your energies to the atmosphere, look at everything in a different way...you will find inspiration.
Thinking of a realistic example; What about some thing desperate like a sex tryst or a suppressed sentiment, a lost love, some animated account of a relationship.

How do you know if a guy likes you? I know the normal advice would be to ask him, but i don't want us to lose

We are friends, and he usually bullies me (the way guys like to bully their female friends). Sometimes he acts as if he doesn't care even if i don't exist. But there are some times when he is willing to help me out of difficult situations (involving other guys). And why doesn't he say anything when people say that he likes me, he just looks elsewhere. (When he gets teased with other girls he will get mad.) Can anyone tell me what this means and what are the signs that i should look out for to see if he likes me?How do you know if a guy likes you? I know the normal advice would be to ask him, but i don't want us to lose
All relationships, to really work, depend on serious, open and honest communication. So, if you don't want to ask him for fear of discovering he doesn't like you ';that way'; and he will then move away because of your question...you will have to be satisfied with the relationship the way it exists right now. You can either wait until he either makes a move or states something more positive, or you say something. Good luck. How do you know if a guy likes you? I know the normal advice would be to ask him, but i don't want us to lose
he'll asked you out. also most guy would be bit nervous when he really like a girl, u might want to check if he's bit nervous around you. o ya, don't put too much hope on him...keep loking gal!

Does anyone have advice how to create a digital CD of my artwork for an upcoming show I am trying to get into?

I need to get digital images on CD of my 3 works, 72dpi, and no larger than 1024X768 pixels. Does anyone have advice how to create a digital CD of my artwork for an upcoming show I am trying to get into?
You can have them put into a catalog for you, all you have to do for starts is get StoryBook Creator Plus. Once you do that you put your photos together and put whatever you want to say about them on the page. Upload the pictures to the site and have a hard or soft cover book made for you. You can also use this for anything you wan to use it for.Does anyone have advice how to create a digital CD of my artwork for an upcoming show I am trying to get into?
What? This question is very vague. Are you asking how to burn a CD? How to design a CD cover? How to set up the images?

It's a total waste of time to add three tiny 72dpi images to a CD when you can just host them online and hand out business cards with the links on them. Other people will see how much of a waste using a whole CD is too.

  • We are thinking about driving our car into Mexico. Any advice on auto insurance?

We are planning on being near the Mexican border and possibly driving into Mexico. What are the requirements for automobile insurance if I decide to drive into Mexico? Any other advice? I know, don't drink the water, Montezumas Revenge. Thanks for your answers. We are thinking about driving our car into Mexico. Any advice on auto insurance?
Wow ! There are some really wrong answers on here.

Believe or not, most standard insurance companies actually allow you to be covered in Mexico. It is an endorsement, so it will cost a little extra. They will usually cover you within 75 miles of the border. Call your agent and ask.We are thinking about driving our car into Mexico. Any advice on auto insurance?
American car insurance has no value in Mexico .You need to have a separate policy. Fortunately there are stores located along the border that sell Mexican insurance policies. AAA also sell it

You can't take a rental car into Mexico.

If your car isn't paid for and you don't have a free and clear title for it, then you will need permission from the leinholder to take the car into Mexico .Something about cars disappearing in Mexico and the Mexican government not exactly being 100%cooperative in helping the rightful owners recover their vehicles.

Use bank ATM machines for getting cash .

Carry a lot of small denominations in the event that you need to negotiate a ticket with the local cops .They tend to be a bit hesitant when it comes to making change

Another good reason to carry small denominations is that haggling for goods and services is part of the culture and having small denominations just gives you an edge -up in that process.

Lastly if you don't speak Spanish and you want to do a crash course in it , get a book on Latin American Spanish-not Castillian Spanish.

    have fun
Although Mexican auto insurance in valid in the US, they don't return the favor and your insurance will be void in Mexico. You will have to get Mexican insurance coverage, available at many of the border crossings for you time there. Also, if you are stopped, do NOT hand your driver's license to the local police or you will have to pay them a bribe to get it back. Hold it to the inside of the window glass so they can read it, but don't let them get their hands on it.
If you have a limited liability insurance policy, it will not cover you into Mexico, but some carriers will provide a limited amount of coverage into Mexico. Ask your agent or better yet, read the policy they gave you when you took out your insurance.
    Yeah, DON'T

What kind of soup? my fav is veggie beef dump soup. my kids love it. brown ground beef in big pot, drain. add tomato sauce or canned tomatoes, what ever you have on hand. then ';dump'; in whatever canned veggies you have, after draining them. can also use fresh or frozen veggies, just cook longer. it's ready when veggies are tender.I am going to make a soup now. Can anybody advice me good and easy recipe?
This is probably the best soup I have ever had. It's pretty easy to make, but has a lot of ingredients. I don't always use everything on the list and I will substitute things I like with things I don't. I don't like lima bean so I leave them out. If you don't eat meat substitute vegetable broth for the beef and leave out the ground beef. I hope you will try this one. It comes out perfect every time, enjoy!

    2. Separate eggs, placing egg whites in a medium bowl. With electric hand mixer, beat egg whites until stiff white peaks form, then add egg yolks and lemon juice to create the egg-lemon mixture.

    3. Remove soup pot with broth from stove. Using a soup ladle and a hand mixer, continue to beat the egg-lemon mixture on low speed, adding 2 to 3 ladles of hot broth to the egg-lemon mixture, a little at a time, to prevent eggs from curdling.

    4. Add the egg-lemon mixture into the soup pot with the orzo and whisk together gently. Serve immediately in soup bowls.

Note: Serves 4-6. To reheat this soup, heat on medium-low heat; do not boil! I you would like, you can add cooked chicken meat to the soup.

    Yeah, DON'T
    BEFORE YOU GO.....................

CONTACT YOUR LOCAL DMV OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.

I am going to make a soup now. Can anybody advice me good and easy recipe?

What is some advice on buying and raising a Savannah?

I want to buy a Savannah cat. What is the average price of this breed? Any advice would be great. Thanks! What is some advice on buying and raising a Savannah?
Average is about $1500. Depending on what color or pattern you want. Males will be your bigger cats. And these cats have special diets and you will have to walk it on a leash outside. If they run off their gone. They make great pets but need alot of attention and care. Good luck.

http://www.savannah-cats.net/kids.htmWhat is some advice on buying and raising a Savannah?
If you ';want to buy a Savannah cat'; how do you not even know what they cost? Or how to care for one? I think your question should be ';I'm interested in the Savannah'; otherwise you just look like an impulsive buyer. Do some RESEARCH. Most people on here probably don't even know what they are and a lot of them are only 12 years old.

The Savannah's a hybrid cat - a mix between Serval and domestic. How close it is to the Serval and how close it matches the breed standard determines the price. They START at about $1,000 for one that's F5 and run up to $22K for one that's F1. The F determines what percent Serval the cat is. For more on what each number means again DO YOUR RESEARCH.

Don't pick a cat simply because you think it's ';cool'; or that it might ';impress others';. Do so because you've FULLY researched the breed, you've gone to shows and talked to breeders, have met cats and that you truly feel that you have the money, time and space required to care for one.

I got in some legal trouble and I will be asked by the judge to say something when I plead guilty, need advice

    What should I say to the judge? Are there any ';hot buttons'; or anything that could help to reduce my sentance? It is for a DUI. Does anyone have a lot of experience with DUI cases and what to say to judges when asked ';Do you have anything to say to the court?';

It really was a dumb mistake. I have not driven drunk since I was a teenager. Does any of that matter to the judge? Thanks.I got in some legal trouble and I will be asked by the judge to say something when I plead guilty, need advice
Nobody knows what a judge wants to hear more than an attorney. Except maybe another judge. I would talk to an attorney to find out the best things to say, what to bring up, what to leave out. For $17 month(in my state) you can call up an attorney asnd ask that question and find out. Lots more benefits too, to much to talk about here. Worth checking out, no long term contract, its month to month. I have had this service for almost 2 years and wouldn't be without it. You don't know how often you really could use an attorney's advice until you take the cost out of it. For $17 a month it isn't free but it is cheap. I LOVE it.I got in some legal trouble and I will be asked by the judge to say something when I plead guilty, need advice
show no remorse... stand defiant... ask where the nearest bar is to the courthouse, and if all else fails, cry a lot and talk about how you cant go to prison cause you are afraid of being gang raped... and the key to this whole strategy is you have to show up in clothes you've worn for 3 days totally blitzed out of your mind. Ideally you want to be about 15 minutes ';fashionably late'; for court proceedings!
Frankly, I hope you have an attorney to advise you.

Be extremely polite: say, yes, your Honor, no, your Honor, etc. Show remorse for what you've done, and say that you'll never do it again, and mean it!
Getting good advice from these folks. Listen to them. Admit your mistake, be polite, brief and to the point. Don't make empty promises about never doing it again -- the judge has heard it too many times before. Don't bother with the: ';I have not driven drunk since I was a teenager.'; routine either -- it will come across as a weasly excuse and won't be believed anyway. Oh, short hair (if possible), dress well, clean nails, no gum, no hat, no sunglasses, shined shoes (NOT sneakers!!) -- obvious stuff like that, of course.
Don't know. Judges are, well, judges and you never know. What might impress me would be first, admission of culpability. Second, attendance at AA and willingness to show continued attendance. Not much else. You're trying to weasel out of it and you need to face the music. You need to know I hope he throws the book at you.
I haven't had any experience in that situation, but I think what the judge is looking to hear is that you accept responsibility for doing something wrong and that you've learned from your mistake. Don't minimize the situation because that makes it sound like you didn't do anything wrong and if you hadn't you wouldn't be convicted of the crime. I think in situations like that being humble and honest pays off.
they are just gonna take ur license. my son father has like 3 dui's and with the first, they just took his license away. but that didnt stop him. he got pulled over a few days after court...lol why did we split up again?? :)
Ask to speak with the public defence atourney first, Ask if there are any options for reduced sentence or have it waived. Given your history, you'd probably get probation.
Try being honest and saying it was a dumb mistake, one that you're not happy with yourself for making and wish you could undo. Remorse is one of the bigger things judges look for. If you try to come off macho or cocky, you're more likely to blow your chances.
They usually will have no tolerance for DUIs. Just grin and bear it.
dress like you are going for a job interview. look at the judge, make eye contact. if this was a wake up call for you, say so. if you attended any aa meetings or other educational lectures regarding drinking and driving, say so, and how it was important to you. DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES. be honest. thank the judge and court for their time, only if you can be sincere. good luck and get your act together.
Tell them that it was a one-time mistake, and that it's something that you will never do again. Offer to do community service. It's your first offense, and your driver's license will be suspended. You need to get that taken care of, FAST.

Explain to them that you have a job, or that you're a student who wants to build a life for a family in the future. Convey to them that you understand that you could have hurt someone on the road, and that it would kill you if someone you loved got hit by a drunk driver, therefore you understand the importance of not being the person behind the wheel drinking.

Don't do it again, though, because the second time, you'll go to jail.
Yeah - i think you should admit it - and appologise and say something like how you know it was stupid and a mistake and you will deal with the sentance.
nope ,noone cant take you outa this one...even if you do it one time is bad...just shut your mouth and bare with it...and acknowledge you did a bigggggg mistake!
If you're asked what to say, the judge wants to see and hear how you feel about what you did. Own up to it. Tell the judge that you made a stupid mistake and that you're sorry that you put your life and the lives of others at risk. Let him know that you take full responsibility for your actions and you will accept the consequences. DON'T say ';I'll never do it again.'; Judges don't want to hear that. Will it get you a reduction on your sentence? That depends on the laws of your state and how much discretion the judge has. Don't expect much sympathy, and don't be a wimp -- stand up tall and say ';Yes, I broke the law, I knew what I was doing was wrong, I apologize, and now I'm ready to get what's coming to me for my stupidity.'; Good luck!
well i do have experience in this area my advice is no bad attitude please judges hate drunk drivers espically with an attitude always say yes'(mam or sir) no (mam or sir) let them know you have learned from you mistake your very sorry you know that some inniocent peson could have gotten hurt or even worse killed that you want the courtto know very sorry and if you were to ever be in that situation again under no sircumstances would you ever get in an automobile again while under the influance sometimes they will offer you a plea bargin befour you go to trail if there were other charges the might ask u to plead guilty to them an reduce ur dui to reckles driving(which cost more points against your license and no work permit is allowew in georgia) but its kinda hard to say not knowing ur criminal history, what state your in,your age and any other factors that might be involved

  • Where can I get sexy prescription eye glasses? And professional advice to what is appropriate for me?

My eyes are too dry for lasix and contacts are impossible for me to wear. In short of being blind for my wedding day I am going to have to wear glasses with my wedding dress!! I want to make a sexy statement! Advice required. Thanks.Where can I get sexy prescription eye glasses? And professional advice to what is appropriate for me?
I love eyemart express or eyeglass world, if they have either of those where you live I would check it out. I don't recommend lens crafters because they are the most expensive. Finding something that suits your face shape and skin tone is going to be a lot sexier than finding something that's ';in style.'; I would recommend just going in and trying on tons of glasses until you find a pair you love!Where can I get sexy prescription eye glasses? And professional advice to what is appropriate for me?
Well I find that the hottest and trendiest frames come from Lens Crafters, I myself enjoy the Versace frames. Red is a big fashion statment this season. If your going to wear glasses for your wedding make it bold, do red! or plum, which ever looks best on your skin.

How to advice a parent who is not tactful?

There is a parent who is not tactful. This parent will paint her child in very weak, gloomy, pitiful ways, hoping other people will feel pity and support and help the child. This is backfiring because this child is being disrespsected by other people because of what this parent is saying about this child. How to stop this parent? How to make this parent to be tactful? How to advice a parent who is not tactful?
Just tell the parent. If you prefer, sent an anonymous letter.

Im going into middle school and im a little worried that i wont be able to open my locker ,any advice?

DoIm going into middle school and im a little worried that i wont be able to open my locker ,any advice?
lol sorry but that's just funny...because I worried abou the same thing! And surely enough, on the first day of school....I struggled with it! But there is something you can do....buy your lock in advance and practice opening it. Everyday open and close it once or twice...this will also help you remember your combination....say it to yourself a couple times a day until school starts. And most importantly ...don' t worry...the worst case scenario will be you might have to ask someone for help, so just relax!!!Im going into middle school and im a little worried that i wont be able to open my locker ,any advice?
All combination locks basically work the same.

Get a combination lock, practice opening it at home.
so what ,if that happened act like its ok , it maybe a way to get long w/d other students and u'll laugh later
oh sweetheart, if this is all you have to worry about, middle school will be a breeze!!! if you can't open your locker, then ask a teacher. good luck!!!
it just takes practice! before you know it you wont even think about it.
why wouldn't you be able to open your locker? did you lose the key or forget the combination? Generally school make you put on your own lock at lease that's how they did it in NJ.
Don't worry, it really isn't that hard and they go through it a couple of times to make sure you know it. After a while it just becomes second nature and you won't even have to think about it when you open your locker. Usually you just spin the dial a couple times to the right to clear it. Then you spin it to the right and find the first number of you combination. Next you spin it to the left, first passing the second number of your combo and then keep going left until you find the second number again. Next you go right until you find the third number and then your lock is open!
Ugh...I have been there and done that one!!!

Just relax about it. It may happen and it may not happen. The worst thing that could come of it would be not having your homework or books for a class...big deal.

You will eventually be able to get it open. Trust me.
I am a middle school teacher. My first two weeks are spent helping 6th graders open lockers. Don't worry! We are there to help. In my school, the trick is to slow down on the last number, and when you feel it drag, jerk open your locker. But that may not work at your school.

    Good luck and enjoy!

Anyone out there ever been foster parents to a teenager? Any advice that could be helpful?

Was a foster parent for several years, and pretty successful. Here's some of what I learned. The child most likely has unresolved conflicts with people in the past. If the major offender was female it is best if the opposite sex person does the most direction giving. Most important is that the child would very likely have the same problems they have with you with anyone else in your position, so do not take anything personally. Some just need caring for. Steer away from being called Mom or Dad because this group likely has bad stuff associated with them thus those names, and if they do not then the child might feel you are horning into someone elses place. The STEP program which can be found in most book stores was the most helpful instruction manual I found, it is practical an easy read and the methods really work. If they have a counselor assigned try to get to know that person without asking about the sessions (confidential). Getting along with that person will help. The child may say they said this or that if they are arguing with you but they are probably telling you only half the story. Also some people go into counseling because they have problems so it is a good idea to watch and see what those might be and how they fit in. Being a good foster parent is as hard as it is rewarding, and the rewards flow out to us all when a job is well done--treasures in heavenAnyone out there ever been foster parents to a teenager? Any advice that could be helpful?
I havent been a parent but i was a foster kid...just be there for them cause we need it. don't be over loving tho cause we want our space ..also don't get extra mad if they don't call you mom or dad they will work up to it i'm sureAnyone out there ever been foster parents to a teenager? Any advice that could be helpful?
I wasn't a parent, I was a sibling...as in, my parents took in a foster kid. It was great, once he settled down a little. He was 15 and had been through a lot of crummy stuff in his life. It was weird at first, not knowing how to treat him as a brother or friend (he was older than me, and the same age as my older brother), but he ended up being just like an older brother. I think the biggest thing was acceptance, because he was convince the whole world hated him and would never love him. Even to today we stay in contact, and consider him a sibling.
Yes, i am a foster parent to a teenage boy, I really do not know what I could tell you that would be helpful, except to be patient, never yell, and try to make the time to listen to what they have to say.Remember, you put good in them, good will come out, even if you don't see it right then. Most important of all is, only you control your emotions, there is no such thing as saying he made me mad, or he made me sad, you chose to get mad or sad, only you have that kind of power over your emotions.
Yes. A teen age girl. The lady next door did as well. She had several in the amount of time she lived next to us. Everything aweful thing that woman did made me a better foster mom.

Here is a list of things she did that I made a mental note NOT to do as I saw it devastating these girls.

    1. She would have a family dinner night and not include her foster child. This was a night where just she and her husband and daughter would go somewhere really nice and have a dinner and maybe go out for a movie later. The foster daughters were never invited and usually either thrown a cheap microwave pizza or if I knew about it they dined with our family.

(From this I learned that if you don't have it in you to have a family night with the Foster kid, don't have foster kids. If you need a night with your child one on one, you need to plan one with your foster child too. What they need most is to feel part of a family unit and to be loved and accepted.)

    2. She was by her own admission in it for the money. She would buy her daughter little gifts all the time and nothing for the foster daughter. Even at Christmas, her foster daughter would get a dollar store stocking and her own daughter would get unnecessarily showered with gifts. I know this is not what Christmas is all about, but I am only illustrating the pain the foster daughter felt.

Her foster daughter got nothing for Easter and the daughter got a huge colored ceran wrap professional basket full of goodies.

Her foster daughter got the lead in a play at school and needed pink tights, but foster mom wouldn't get them for her because it wasn't in the budget. (these people had plenty of money). Now, in case you think I am taking the word of one foster kid, I am not. Almost all of them would end up at my house complaining about these same types of things over dinner with us or just visiting in the garden. Not to mention the fact that I was stocking shopping for our kids together one Christmas and I said something like ';Oh, you must be done with (Jane's) stocking, isn't all this stuff for (Suzie)? and she said she did Janes at the dollar store earlier. The stuff in the basket was enough to be any of my kids ONLY presants.

It isn't about the actual material goods for the kids...it is totally about being made to feel like a dirty dish rag/being thrown a bone.

(If you are thinking for one moment that the amount of money the government will give you will be enough to help raise and usually heal emotionally, a teen ager-- get out now. Much if not all of the money you make will be needed for the upbringing of that kid.)

    3. There were different punishments for her own daughter than for the foster daughter.

(Now, if you are getting into this you already understand that discipline is a big deal. As far as what you can and can't do--But you and your husband or who ever else is in the family have to be on the same page. Lying has one type of punishment for ALL in the house hold. Not if Jane does it she can be grounded for a day that is convenient for her--such as after the weekend. But Suzie has to clean the whole house and is grounded for a week)

I guess what it really boiled down to for me is realizing that because they were not my birth kids and that I haven't known them for very long, does not mean they don't desperately want a stable environment. That and love and acceptance. I think if your whole household--kids included, decide before hand that you are out to make a positive difference in these kids lives, it will be a good experience for all of you.

Really, best said, take the foster off the front of family.

Sorry so long...spell check wouldn't even touch it (LOL)

Is there advice about a Kindergartener who cries and screams when dropped off at school?

My son (almost 6) cries and screams most days when he is dropped off at school. He says it's because he has to go the the after-school program, which he only goes to 2 days out of 5 days. I've sent him with family photos, I given rewards if he went a week without crying, but it always returns. We've switched from rewards to punishment (no TV if he cries, no playdates if he cries, no dessert if he cries, etc.), which I feel awful about. The teacher is not terribly helpful and I know that he went through crying fits when transitioning to pre-school for 3-4 months. He is disrupting his whole class. He is the sweetest little boy and I've let him know that the ball is basically in his court now - he has to decide if he wants to have good, fun days or sad days. I'm at my wits end with no end in sight. Help!Is there advice about a Kindergartener who cries and screams when dropped off at school?
I know you feel like the teacher isn't helping, but she probably really is. Chances are he stops crying with in 2 minutes after you leave. To him (whether he knows it or not) its a way to keep you there longer. He just wants you to stay.

As hard as it is I recommend helping him get settled and then just saying ';I am going now, I will see you later, I love you very much'; and then blow a kiss (if you hug him he may hug and not let go). This is extremely hard, but I bet he stops crying soon after you leave.

I would strongly suggest talking to the teacher about it and seeing what she says. She may have some other ideas since she has experience with you son. But in my 8 years of teaching little ones I have found this works best.Is there advice about a Kindergartener who cries and screams when dropped off at school?
I hope everything turns out okay.

I'll be taking my first Tae Kwon Do class today. Any advice?

It almost feels like the first day of school! I'm a little nervous, so any advice you can give will be really helpful!I'll be taking my first Tae Kwon Do class today. Any advice?
dont be nervous it will be fun. try your best to listen and dont get discouraged by thte other people some of them will be really good.....but they have done it a while. make sure you stretch before you do anything dont want o pull a muscle. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!I'll be taking my first Tae Kwon Do class today. Any advice?
As long as it makes you happy, keep with it. Enjoy what you train. That is about it.
Never, ever, ever fall asleep. you might get kicked without you knowing it.
if you are over 18 wear a thong.
Just do your best %26amp; you'll be ok!
Just pay attention to the teacher and have fun.
dont go mate. tae kwon do is rubbish. better off learning ju-jitsu like spirit combat :)
Try, but don't try too hard until you've got the hang of it. There are a lot of kicking movements in TKD. If you try too hard, you will blow a fart or fall on your butt. That's over 10 years of TKD experience and after witnessing more than 1000 instances of both. Happened every class. Most of the time, if it was a new student, they never came back. Oh, and I ripped my pants once kicking too high and trying to avoid buying a new uniform while I was a growing boy.

About TKD itself, it's not really a self-defense art. If you're there to have fun, learn kicking technique, stay in shape, be flexible, make friends, be fawned over by guys, and not be an Ultimate Fighter, then TKD is right for you.
Tae Kwon Do is fun and a little hard but the first day isn't so bad. You will be moving alot so I advise you to take a bottle of water with you to class. If you have Asama take your pump 15 min before the class starts. Just listen to the Sensi and talk to the other belts, especially the higher belts because they are advance and they've been in your shoes.
well.. its your first class.. So I suggest you pay extra more attention to details, and think about how you will go about practicing certain exercises that best suits your body condition.

Also it's actually a great time to have serious think about wether you would enjoy this martial arts if you would to continue, or there would be other styles that could possibly be more suitable for you instead.

It's very simple, you either like it and will continue do it for life, or its not your thing, then dont waste too much time on it if that is the case, and explore other things better suited for you in life.
make sure you really stretch , that is the key , stretch at your house before you go to class you can never over stretch if you do it right
make sure when you are done doing somthing say a kick and the teacher guy says C you say C back really loud! And before and after class make sure you bow like put your feet in like a v shape with your heels touching and then put your ands togther and against your chest then bow your head.
Before breaking any boards w/ your bare hands...remember to ';Think through the boards';...that's key.

No seriously...warm up, stretch...and wear loose, comfortable clothes (assuming you don't have a Gi yet).
Deep breath..... Let it out..... Now go have fun.....
dont go i just found out today that triditional martial arts is nothin but bull**** all this time ive ben workin my *** off and today they tell me its BULL**** why would god do this to me why why
Dont try so hard on the first i took ta kwon do and i got really mest up if when i try to hard.
Understand that your nerves are normal. Instructors do not expect you to be Jackie Chan your first day in class. In fact most instructors will understand that you are nervous and not expect you to do anything out of your comfort level. Just make sure you stay respectful and if you make a mistake just work through it. Being your first class I would really recommend asking alot of questions and take your knowledge home and practice practice practice.

why not?! its easier than asking in real life, and the answer are more objective than answers from friends.
There are so many questions that should not be asked here and then people get ticked off when you answer them in a way they don't like. I'm usually pretty serious when I answer but sometimes I'm not and sometimes I click on stupid questions just because I know a lot of the answers willl be funny.

Does anyone have any advice for a new mommy 2 be.?

one of my friends is pregnant, and it is her first child, and i was wondering if anyone had any advice.Does anyone have any advice for a new mommy 2 be.?
I don't have pregnancy advice but she should try to be the BEST MOST LOVING mother she can. I've seen too many mothers out in public berrating their child for messing up the child's own hair or not walking fast enough. Don't these people realize they're in public people can hear how and what they're saying to their child.

I think the best advice would be for her to take parenting classes as well as childbirth classes.Does anyone have any advice for a new mommy 2 be.?
Get a lot of sleep and start buying things and decorate. Stock up on diapers, wipes, and bottles.
Continue to exercise, even if its just a 10 minute walk. It will keep her in moderate shape during pregnancy and ease labor and delivery and help out post pregnancy getting back into shape.

Its REALLY easy to fall into the lazy thing while prego, but SO hard after you have the baby.
dont be scared to pat your babies back a little hard when burping them cause alot of people are scared and have trouble burping there baby. then they got a gassy crying baby.
Sleep now before the baby gets here, good luck and congratulations.
Stock up on lots and lots of receiving blankets, burp rags, and onesies.

Pick your pediatrician before the baby is born, and put a lot of thought into it.

    Buy a crib mobile.

Try to resist buying TOO many big, loud, bright, noisy toys. They will overstimulate the baby, and he or she will be fussy and cranky!

Really give breastfeeding a shot, but don't assume it will be a breeze, and don't stress out about it too much. Yes, it is the best milk for baby, but there are lots of bottlefed babies who are happy, healthy, and chubby. Be patient with yourself, and with your baby. If it works out, WONDERFUL!!! If it doesn't, (which is quite possible), just feel confident and proud knowing your baby is well-fed and content.

Pray for your baby, not just for her immediate future, but for the many years to come...health, safety, future husband, jobs, friends, etc.

ENJOY YOUR PREGNANCY, and ENJOY BEING A MOM!!!
Get as much sleep as you can and enjoy it! I am not trying to scare you, having a baby is wonderful, but sleep will be in short supply once baby arrives.

Also, I suggest enjoying your pregnancy very much and your baby while he/she is tiny because they grow up very fast and you'll miss it.

I would stress out a lot over the house being dirty or getting other things done and before I knew it my daughter was walking and running around, no longer wanted to be just cuddled in my arms. Trust me, everything else can wait, just hold your baby a lot, love him or her with all your heart, give your baby all your love and don't let others tell you what to do because following your instinct is the best way to go.

Try to be happy and positive, the baby feels everything you do.

    Good luck!
Before baby is born: Get plenty of rest. Eat healthy and drink a lot of water. Exercise.

After baby is born: When baby sleeps, mommy sleeps. If family/friends want to help out, let them!
Drink lots of water and walk alot to keep edema away.
B4 is was pregnant I would hear people say that you can't imagine what the love for your child feels like...and I never got it. I thought they were just baby obsessed...but it's so true. The love is incredible , all your worries disappear , your life that used to seem so hectic , goes in slow motion. Your heart becomes wrapped around this tiny miracle and it's beautiful. It's not exactly advice , but something to look foward too.
Just go with the flow, baby knows when they are hungry, sleepy, cold or wet and they will let you know.

Smile and nod when people are giving you advice and above all trust your instincts. they will always be the right thing to do.
    sleep when the baby sleeps
My advice is to follow her instinct, most of the time she is right on target. To enjoy her little one as much as she can because they grow so fast! Have patience, pretty soon she will be super mom. Goodluck

The best way to tone muscle and to lose weight is weightlifting.

The healthiest amount of weight to lose per week is 2-3 pounds anymore then that you may have some problems. So I would say 5-6 weeks to lose in a healthy manner.

As far a food just watch what you eat, in other words read the nutritional facts. Avoid those with a high amount of sugar (I said high not none!). And eat small portions (nothing that can fill a plate).Help i need some advice on how to get toned for the film i will be in?
    Here's what I've seen work.

    Daily exercise:

Just walk briskly. That way you wont gain any unwanted muscle bulk.

    Breakfast:

Fresh Fruit (even 2 or 3)

    Green Tea

    Snack:

    Fruit

Green Tea or water with lemon

    Lunch:

Drink lots of water until a couple days before your big scenes. Then you should lose the water those days, to yes, not healthy, but dehydrate yourself.
How quickly you lose weight depends upon numerous factors such as

1 first of all your metabolic rate. If you have a high metabolic rate then you will lose weight quickly.

2 how much you exercise. If you want to lose weight quickly then you are going to have to do a bit of weight training as well along with cardio exercises. You need a full body workout, working on each muscle-group separately.

3 it is easy to plan a fitness programme but very difficult to stick with it, especially when you don't get the results as quickly as you expect them.

4 go for a pure vegetarian diet - lots of fruits, vegetables and cut out the fatty foods like cheese, oils, etc.

5 again, it is easy to plan a diet but very difficult to stick to it.

I am currently writing a book and I need advice from a hematologist. How do you do your job?

My character is taking 100 mgs of Carbatrol, which in rare cases reduces red and white blood cells, so was recommended to a hematologist. How does the appointment work in this situation?I am currently writing a book and I need advice from a hematologist. How do you do your job?
I'm not a hematologist, but try using google.

I need advice, please. What is best Neurology or psychiatry for social anxiety treatment?

I made an appointment in a local clinical for psychiatry but the lady said neurology also treat these cases. I don't know what to chose? Do you have any idea? They would be greatly appreciated.I need advice, please. What is best Neurology or psychiatry for social anxiety treatment?
I had that, CBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy) is the therapy for that particular problem. I'd reasearch all you symtoms before you go though and have a clear idea on what you have because they just take a wild guess and perscribe a medication.

Right now i take Zoloft at 1 and 1/2 pills of 50mgs ( made for Anxiety, and doesn't react to anything really), which has basicaly saved my social life. i used to spend 5 mins in class thinking about wether or not i should go up and sharpen my pencil, because i feared that anxiety rush so much. i rarely spoke and if i did i would most likely slur a few sentences, everybody thought i was some kind of creep because of it, it sucked. but know i basicaly do whatever i want no problem not even the thought about questioning it either. i look at people that i can tell are nervous and just think why are they nervous their isn't even a crowd. but i know how hard it is so i don't take anything against them.I need advice, please. What is best Neurology or psychiatry for social anxiety treatment?

Take one slightly difficult (Self set goal per day ).

It could be as simple as saying hello to someone new.

As you learn to feel comfortable if you wanted set

    the next goal.

Forgive %26amp; encourage yourself if you find this difficult.

    One small step.
Try exercise 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week(especially running/jogging). I've read numerous results from studies citing it as just as effective, if not more effective than drugs.
the treatment is alcohol. Ofc, you have to be 21 to take it, by which time the problem will likely go away.
i've never heard of neurology being used for social anxiety...
