My new theory is that none of us knows for sure what happened and that we should all enjoy ourselves, protect the environment instead of arguing about who created the world, how, what, etc...

Well, to me it was by one of my Teacher who was a proffessor of English. I was over confident about my studies up to Graduation level. I never confined myself to the text books, i had a habbit to read from every where even mostly at the cost of my course books, which was of course deadly from the examination point of view. I argued with every teacher giving reference of different books and writers. Once this teacher talked to me and said '; ahmad I appreciate whatever you study and work, and also what you have acquired from your studies. Just tell me one thing. Do you think your examiner is also familiar with what you know? He might never have the knowledge of what you know. He only knows the precribed books. Therefore concentrate on your text books at least to improve your result.'; This was only 18 days before the examination. I took his words very seriously thenonwards and got through the exam successfully.What is the best advice you ever recieved?

Hi, I'm an immigrant and I'm trying to put together a book to help other immigrants to create a successful life for theirself in the United States. I want to help people to avoid the mistakes I made when I first moved here. I'm looking for intelligents tips, such as where to get cheap medical cares, good websites, where to get free English classes, which banks are the most friendly toward immigrants, which organizations work to help immigrants to integrate the US in a better way and so on...

my hubbys parents migrated here from mexico. they started thier own business and didnt have children until thier late 20's almost 30's. so now they have the financial ability to put thier kids through college. that is the best thing you can do for yourself and your future children. if they can do it then you can do it.

First of all APPLY at the nearest US Counsulate General office and fill out all the required paperwork.
Do not travel until you have your visas that authorize you to be a long term resident with work priviledges. Have enough money saved up BEFORE you travel to the USA so you will NOT have to drain social service resources - ie ';free'; medical care and subsidized housing, and food subsidies.
Legitimate immigrants do not come to the USA and take benefits from US citizens who have genuine need.
don't listen to the liberals . Work hard and make something of yourself , America is a place of endless opportunity for those who want it . Free medical - get a job . The best way to learn another language is rosetta stone , for about $300 you will learn english . the simple answer - don't depend on anyone else for your success

- always wear ninja suit everywhere u go...so u won't get caught and deported.
Legal immigrants who have a command of the English language and who observe immigration laws, and who make every effort to be self-suporting, rather than exploit social welfare programs, tend to do very well in the United States. Banks and businesses will provide resources and encouragement to those who want to come here and start their own businesses.
English is essential and a marketable skill will make it possible to succeed. (That goes for native born Americans as well as immigrants.)
The best advice you could give an immigrant would be to spend his or her time and effort establishing a business rather than wasting time trying to work the system for handouts. There truly is no such thing as a free lunch. If a person gets tangled up in the web of government and social service programs, they will never break free.
You are going to find different local areas have different deals. I would start with the chamber of commerce in most communities to help you with this. they will know who is focused on immigrants and can help them the best.

I think you should ask as many immigrants as possible what their experiences are. Find people with different backgrounds from yours: a different color skin, a different educational background, a different religion. They will all have different experiences. I think it is a great idea, and good luck to you!

Yesterday I was eating lunch and there was a TV on and cops was one. There was an immigrant who was being arrested for a DUI.
The cop was fair to him. And when they were booking him at the jail the man turned to the officer and said thank you for treating me with some dignity, I know I did soemthin wrong, but I appreciate you treating me well.
I know this is a situation of him being arrested but the point is he knew he did something wrong, he was polite and cooperative to the cop and the cop treated him with respect and he will probably receive a lighter penalty maybe because of it.
A good attitude will take you farther than anything else.

I only have one tip. If you really want to help them be successful, stress that they need to come here to be an American, not a (Mexican, Vietnamese, whatever) living in America. This country was built by immigrants, but the difference between then and now is that our Forefathers all came here to contribute to the development of this nation, not to just make money to send back home to family members while maintaining loyalty to their native land. Nothing makes me more disturbed than to see people here cheering when Americans are maligned, mistreated and ridiculed by people in their native country. America is a GREAT country, and those who choose to immigrate here must understand that the privilege of coming here carries with it certain responsibilities like paying taxes, obeying laws, and taking pride in AMERICA. I do not mean to suggest that people surrender their heritage when they come here, but they must be prepared to change their loyalty from the old to the new. Good luck with your book.

What are some ways I can act to seem impressive or suitable for a job. It is only a small local pizza restaraunt. They don't even do interviews or applications. You just go in a talk to them.

For me: my mom swears up and down I don't have to get my hair done for the wedding. She thinks I can just wash it, dry it and stick the veil in it. I think she is crazy. A co-worker told me to lie to the priest during our meetings with him. Gee, I'll really have to think about that. Especially considering the source - a woman who wants to get a divorce but says she can't afford it. Instead, she stays married and dates a super-rich guy who is also married to somebody else all the while still sleeping with her husband who has no idea that her ';overnight shifts'; are not actually for work so she can ';keep the peace at home.';

Great question. For me, because I am Catholic and my fiance is Methodist, his mother suggested that we marry in a Lutheran church so that we can ';compromise'; on our religion. I found that a little ridiculous.
My friend suggested that I just buy a white prom dress instead of a wedding dress to save money. Um, hello, people would notice, especially since my wedding is pretty formal.
My mom feels that I don't owe my bridesmaids anything, and suggested I get them all a $10 candle. I told her that they have all spent over $100 on their gowns and accessories, and three of them have to fly to get here and they are hosting my shower, but she still doesn't think gifts for them are a necessity, especially for my two sisters.
It's not so much that it was crazy advice, but that people were actually offended when I wouldn't accept their advice (even online folks). I made my own wedding dress and people thought I was insane. It was fabulous. It wasn't that hard. You wouldn't BELIEVE the negative comments I got from people about making your own wedding dress. Even on Yahoo!Answers when someone asked about making their own, I got many thumbs down when I said ';SURE! You can do it!';. I'm not even a great seamstress and someone bought my dress already (Tudor recreation) for $700.
On the whole though, I got a lot of terrific advice on Yahoo!Answers from do-it-yourself-for-less-money allowing me to stay in budget.
At my wedding, my first maid of honor didn't show up. The flowers weren't the flowers I asked for. My cousin didn't have music ready. Then, there was the part where my husband's cousin covered our car in butter, cheese, and hot dogs. That, of course, led to a shouting match and a near fist fight. Which led to my husband's grandmother refusing to be in any of our wedding pictures...I guess because she thought covering the car with butter was perfectly all right.
I didn't get much advice from my mother, because I had heard her for my sister's previous two weddings. The first one she suggested using potpourri instead of rose petals, so every step my sister took crunched.
I felt bad, but my mom was elected to bring chairs and that was about it.
My husband's uncle pulled aside at the reception and gave us advice on our marriage. Cherish each other everyday, always say I love you, etc.
All pretty good sounding advice but this is coming from a man on his second marriage whose current wife NEVER comes around to family gatherings or spends time with him and I believe he's had numerous affairs. Thanks - I think we'll figure it out on our own!
someone told me that the brides maid is more important than the maid of honor and i read about one bride using live gold fish in bowls as their centerpieces/ favors at the end of the night every one got to take home their fish may i sarcastically say 'yay'
To buy a gown that exceeded my entire budget. I couldn't believe anyone would pay that much for one dress.
Then I saw the show ';Say yes to the dress.';, and saw people buying dresses that cost more than my first car.
That isn' the craziest I've heard...my family was pretty good through it all, but HIS family.. oy.. his aunt was stuck on doing a great big cheesy rose infested bouquet for me.. GAG..

I went for a make up trail downtown Toronto; it was someone who my mom suggested. I asked the make up artist (if you can call her that) to make me look natural and fresh with a nice bridal glow! a bit like the natural look of the cover girl ads. Well I don鈥檛 know what she did but she was actually using what looked like a small paint brush and painting on the foundation! She used this vibrant Blue eyeliner, about four different colors of eye shadow. It was horrible. I was scared to even look in the mirror because my head felt five pounds heavier from all the make up. I did look, and I was in shock. My mother suggested that I let her do my make up for the wedding and that it looked natural!!!! There was nothing natural about it; I looked like a show girl! I couldn鈥檛 believe she even suggested that I show up at my wedding looking like I just did Las Vegas show!
This isn't crazy advice, but it's just kind of one of those no-brainer things. When we first started planning the wedding, my FMIL (I love her to death, seriously) would suggest the most obvious things that brides-to-be already know. We were looking for a hotel to get a block of rooms, and she said: (knowing full well we were going around asking for their group rates) ';make sure you tell them you're booking a few rooms because sometimes hotels will discount the price.'; Ok, great idea, thanks! :)
Then there was my friend who thought that I didn't need to be considering anyone's feelings, as long as it made my life easier. We're having a beach wedding and I had to think about getting chairs, etc. She suggested making all of our guests stand, because, ';screw them, they can stand for a few minutes.'; Ok, tell that to my 84 year old future grandma who uses a walker. And ';you don't need to feed them, save your money.';
Other than that, though, I've been pretty lucky with people staying out of it or offering constructive criticism.
My MIL suggested that I should ride the limo with everyone else from the hotel to the venue, get this, two hours before the wedding.
They hired the limo from 3 pm till midnight and wanted me to ';wait'; for the limo and drive with them at 3 pm and only have 1 and 40 minutes to get ready in the bridal suite (ceremony at 5 pm). I politley declined as I needed more time to get ready, but they INSISTED that I should ride the limo and they were not letting go!. I was sooo enfuriated that I used the ';this is my wedding, I do what I want'; card... I mean, come'on ...what bride gets ready in an hour and a half????
Another one, my MOH (bless her heart) hands me a glass full of beer right before the ceremony. Here we are in the limo with my sparkling, brand new wedding gown, and she hands me a hand full of beer on a moving vehicle????? I handed out to someone else without making a fuss. I know that she meant well, but I did not want a spill on my dress 30 seconds before the ceremony!!!!

I felt bad, but my mom was elected to bring chairs and that was about it.
My husband's uncle pulled aside at the reception and gave us advice on our marriage. Cherish each other everyday, always say I love you, etc.
All pretty good sounding advice but this is coming from a man on his second marriage whose current wife NEVER comes around to family gatherings or spends time with him and I believe he's had numerous affairs. Thanks - I think we'll figure it out on our own!
someone told me that the brides maid is more important than the maid of honor and i read about one bride using live gold fish in bowls as their centerpieces/ favors at the end of the night every one got to take home their fish may i sarcastically say 'yay'
To buy a gown that exceeded my entire budget. I couldn't believe anyone would pay that much for one dress.
Then I saw the show ';Say yes to the dress.';, and saw people buying dresses that cost more than my first car.
That isn' the craziest I've heard...my family was pretty good through it all, but HIS family.. oy.. his aunt was stuck on doing a great big cheesy rose infested bouquet for me.. GAG..
It was hard to convince her that It really wasn't my taste or desire, I think she tried for months
lol my cuzzin when she was getting married we were looking or bridemaids dresses and my stupid aunt decided so that everyone save money that we all go in diffrent dresses and this other girl did not have mmoney so her bridesmaid dress was in white =/

my FMIL suggested not to have flowers during the wedding coz they cost too much haha
I went for a make up trail downtown Toronto; it was someone who my mom suggested. I asked the make up artist (if you can call her that) to make me look natural and fresh with a nice bridal glow! a bit like the natural look of the cover girl ads. Well I don鈥檛 know what she did but she was actually using what looked like a small paint brush and painting on the foundation! She used this vibrant Blue eyeliner, about four different colors of eye shadow. It was horrible. I was scared to even look in the mirror because my head felt five pounds heavier from all the make up. I did look, and I was in shock. My mother suggested that I let her do my make up for the wedding and that it looked natural!!!! There was nothing natural about it; I looked like a show girl! I couldn鈥檛 believe she even suggested that I show up at my wedding looking like I just did Las Vegas show!
This isn't crazy advice, but it's just kind of one of those no-brainer things. When we first started planning the wedding, my FMIL (I love her to death, seriously) would suggest the most obvious things that brides-to-be already know. We were looking for a hotel to get a block of rooms, and she said: (knowing full well we were going around asking for their group rates) ';make sure you tell them you're booking a few rooms because sometimes hotels will discount the price.'; Ok, great idea, thanks! :)
Then there was my friend who thought that I didn't need to be considering anyone's feelings, as long as it made my life easier. We're having a beach wedding and I had to think about getting chairs, etc. She suggested making all of our guests stand, because, ';screw them, they can stand for a few minutes.'; Ok, tell that to my 84 year old future grandma who uses a walker. And ';you don't need to feed them, save your money.';
Other than that, though, I've been pretty lucky with people staying out of it or offering constructive criticism.
My MIL suggested that I should ride the limo with everyone else from the hotel to the venue, get this, two hours before the wedding.
They hired the limo from 3 pm till midnight and wanted me to ';wait'; for the limo and drive with them at 3 pm and only have 1 and 40 minutes to get ready in the bridal suite (ceremony at 5 pm). I politley declined as I needed more time to get ready, but they INSISTED that I should ride the limo and they were not letting go!. I was sooo enfuriated that I used the ';this is my wedding, I do what I want'; card... I mean, come'on ...what bride gets ready in an hour and a half????
Another one, my MOH (bless her heart) hands me a glass full of beer right before the ceremony. Here we are in the limo with my sparkling, brand new wedding gown, and she hands me a hand full of beer on a moving vehicle????? I handed out to someone else without making a fuss. I know that she meant well, but I did not want a spill on my dress 30 seconds before the ceremony!!!!

My fiance tried to tell me we didn't need any flowers! lol! Of course I made sure that we will have an abundant amount of flowers!
